Car is two years old with 42K miles. At about 80-90K miles I expect to sell/trade it for a 2010 Mercedes E class sedan or coupe. There will be plenty of those coming off of 24-36 month leases at that time.
Maxima does 60 miles a day in highway commuting and is running very well....but it will be time for a change in late 2011.

I'll keep mine for another 12 months then trade/sell it. I plan on hitting up the org first sell the car with all the mods included then if nothing happens I'll demod, sell the parts on the org and trade/sell locally.

Back to a truck for me.

Working for emergency management and trying to navigate the roads after a hurricane with a lowered maxima can lead to costly repairs.

I will hopefully keep mine forever. Usually I have to trade it in when I know it will be needing repairs that will no longer make it worthwhile to keep. By then I'm sure I'll trade it for another Maxima. Unless I'm filthy rich by then and I'll get a Bentley or something obscenely expensive like that.

I got two years of low car payments left on it so I will be keeping it for a while. After the max is payed off I will be buying viper gts 96-99. When the viper is payed off in 3 years then switching the max into something with lower miles daily driver that is all wheel drive for the crummy IL weather. So the max will go around 2014-2016, im crossing my fingers for trouble free years.

Well, I traded my 2000 Maxima with 80,000 miles to buy this car with 46,000(give or take a few miles) in Feb. 2007. I love the performance and reliability. I plan to keep my car until 2015, which is when I'll be looking at a promotion to Major in the USMC. I will either give it to my daughter or trade it in for a BMW 745(depending on the situation with gas) at that time. So when 2015 comes around, I should be pushing 180,000 miles on the Maxima. I believe the car will make it that far... Right?

10 years. Paid off in 4, and driven payment free for 6. I have never kept a car for more than 4 years, but I am getting older & wiser. There has been a Maxima in my extended family for over 20 years now, and each has been an excellent vehicle (even last weekend my brother in law said his old 92 Max was better than his current 01 Lexus GS430). The 08 has been flawless for the year I have had it...

Until it costs less to get a new car than to pay for repairs. Just over 4 years and 39k fun miles.

I plan on having mine probably at least 10 more years until I can afford an old classic (Camaro, GTO, Challenger, etc.)

Great thread. I'm joining the reserves and was planning on buying an 07-08 Max with my sign on bonus. Is that a smart purchase or should I go ahead and just buy an 09-10?

I will be keeping Xima forever. I don't plan on selling or trading at all. I love my car and after all the mods I definitely will love her even more. I'll be buying another ride and still using for casual use. I'll probably get something in our family again Nissan/Infiniti or something like a Audi, Merc-Benz CLS or BMW 6/7 Series... that may be some years down the road. Xima is running fine and Im still young so I'm trying to remain rich on a budget!

The moment the timing chain tensioner and tranny go out... then I'll probably walk away from Nissan... this is my 4th Maxima since 1990, and it really is time to move on... not with a grudge or anything... just need something new...

If only I could afford that new Taurus SHO... but I may "settle" for a Genesis coupe.

Make sure you join those car forums first and get some insight about their car problems like you have learned here. Not everything is so Rosy on the other side of the fence. Again, hit the Forums, Not the marketing/seller but the consumer report threads!!!

I hate my 08. Leased new 0 miles and problems galore!!! Tranny hesitation at 80 mph, tires gone at 16,000 miles, front brakes shot at 18,000 miles, gas gauge says empty with 6 gallons left in tank, rattle in dash, etc.... Can't wait till June 2011!!!!!!!!!

Until I get a few rungs up the corporate ladder or it starts acting up. 100k on it and looks great and runs fine, hopefully it can keep this up for another 50k.
