Alternative ATF fluid other than Nissan?

Anyone had success with using ATF fluid other than the specified Nissan brand?
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg if I can get by wth brands such as Mobil.

Dealer charges about $110 for the fluid change. What are you looking to pay. The 5speed auto with maunual mode has a different fluid. I don't think you can get this fluid any where else.

If you drive a 2000, or any Max without CVT, then definitely checkout Amsoil. Talk to talkinghorse. Good guy and educates you very well. After talking to him, guarantee you will make an informed decision.

At one time WINTERFAUST posted a list of synthetic ATF fluids, most name brand synthetics are compatible with the Nissan Fluid, just go to the website like Mobil or Redline, Royal Purple

I have looked into Royal Purple and seems like people had problems with their ATF.
