For the 6spd guys - need feedback on getting into "Reverse"
Hope you guys dont mind a visitor from the 5th gen section
This problem happened right after I dropped the 6th gen 6mt tranny in but Im 99% sure the tranny is fine. Here is what happens:
- Clutch in, try to put it in "R" and it feels like theres resistance. I then put the car in some other gear and it goes in just fine. Then I put it in "R" again and it goes in like butter. This is all done when the car isnt moving. While the clutch is in and I have put in "R" the first time, it goes in smoothly if I keep shifting from "N" to "R" everytime after. However, as soon as I let the clutch go out and try putting it "R" again, it feels resistant. But if I put it in another gear and then "R" its perfectly fine.
- Sometimes it even goes into "R" perfectly smoothly even w/o putting the car into some other gear first.
- If I really try to put it in "R" without putting it in any other gear first, it goes in, but it takes some effort and you feel the front end shake and you hear this clunk. There is NO grinding.
- Car does have SPEC stage 3 clutch and Fidanza flywheel.
- Do any of you guys with 6spd's also have this problem?
COuld there have been a mistake during the tranny swap...maybe one of the lines got messed up or something? Im 99% sure it isnt the tranny.
Any input? Sorry if my post sounds confusing..thats the best way I could describe it
I called my mechanic and I will be making a visit to him today but even over the phone he said most 6mt's are like this b/c the "R" doesnt have a synchro so it kinda has to mesh itself in there. My only problem is that my old 6mt didnt have this problem.

It could be the bushings are worn , search for TurboS13hatch , I just order a set of bushings for the shift linkage from him.
Im doing the swap as well so im upgrading everything on my SE-R tranny before it all goes in

1st- What you describe in the 2nd sentence [in red] could be the clutch not releasing 100% so the tranny is still in motion, but when you touch into any forward gear this stops the motion because of the synchros, this is as your mechanic said " b/c the "R" doesnt have a synchro" to confirm step on the clutch for a full minute if you can get in reverse with no resistance. then the tranny motion has finally stopped, the clutch is releasing
But from what I've read, it seems to be a characteristic of manual trannies...some do it, some dont.
I understood what you said the 1st time, just because you keep you foot on the clutch doesn't mean the THE CLUTCH is fully disengaged! possible problem with the clutch master or slave cylinder. Did you try what I suggested? [to confirm step on the clutch for a full minute if you can get in reverse with no resistance. then the tranny motion has finally stopped, the clutch is disengaged]

^^^ Great, clutch is disengaging, so either touch any of the 5 forward gears first, or hold the clutch down a little longer for smooth shift to reverse. [It takes a little while for the tranny gears to stop spinning]

Reverse phone lookup
Can anybody suggest me some paid solutions to the reverse phone lookup. I have tried some free ones but their database is so small that I could hardly define any numbers there.
I have also found a list resources on reverse phone lookup here:

Can anyone shed a light on them?
