Having electrical problems with cluster gauges , radio controls and console light

Ok heres the chain of events. My intterior light switch was starting to break and finally last night it fell off. Prior to that it was loose and when i would play with it , it would cause the little console light That turns on when u turn the headlamps on to go off for a second or two. When the switch finally fell off the little dim console light turned off as well as all the back lights to the stereo buttons, but the air conditioner backlights remain on. Also i cant adjusst the brightness on the cluster gauges ,it just stays on the bright setting. My auto headlamps sensor still works fine, i thought it may have something to do with it. I checked all the fuses in all three fuse boxes and i fixed my interior light switch and that works perfect now. All 3 settings on the switch work perfect. I am truly stumped. What could this be?

its a fuse or your dimmer... i believe its your 15amp fuse though... passanger side fuse box.... to test that it is your fuse... turn on your headlights and try using the dimmer switch.... if nothing happens its your fuse.... good luck and keep me updated

I am having the same problem with my 04. I did the 04 to 07 bumper, headlight and hood swap. This week I finished the wiring for the cornering lights (now in the headlight assembly) and fog lights (now in the bumper). I now lost my dimmer switch, the lights behind the stereo buttons and the auto headlight on/off feature. The gauge cluster stays bright all the time. Anyone have any ideas? I'll check my fuses again also.

thealliance43, YOU ARE THE MAN! You're absolutely right. Blown 15 amp fuse, passenger side, under the hood. I think the diagram said Tail Lights. Go figure. Replaced it and everything works fine now. Did you ever figure out why yours kept blowing? Thanks for the help!

glad i could help....mine kept blowing because i put leds in my cornering lights... another member who did the 08 conversion at my house wired both fogs together that were hids.... (he had the 05 headlights w. fogs and the 08 fogs together) they kept blowing his fuse... so maybe it is one of those problems... glad you fixed everything

Time will tell whether I start blowing fuses also. I shouldn't have any more problems because I don't think overloaded any circuit. I just had to switch the wiring on the fogs and the corners. But thanks again for the help. Members like you are what make this forum great!

I couldn't find any other posts related to my question, so I figured I would use this one, since it's electrical-related:

I just bought a 2007 Maxima and I have a few issues. I wanted to see if this group might have any comments/solution before I bring it back to the dealer to get fixed (it is a certified pre-owned).

1) When I use the hands-free phone, I only hear the person on the other end out of my right front speaker. Should I hear them out of both front speakers?

2) Neither utility outlet worked when I got the car. I fixed the dashboard outlet by replacing the fuse, but I can't figure out what's wrong with the outlet in the center console. Which fuse circuit is that on?

3) Even though it's summer, I wanted to test the heated seats and steering wheel. It seemed like nothing happened when I turned on the driver seat heater, but when I turned it off and turned on the steering wheel heater, it seemed like my seat got hot. With the blown fuse above and this, I'm wondering if there is a bigger electrical problem. Any known issues with these systems in the '07 Max?

Thanks.

1) it's normal for the bluetooth to come out from right side only. I don't know why, but that's just the way it is.
