How to replace foglights in 6.5 gen?
Just wondering if there is a right up or if someone could help with how to change the bulbs.
I did some searching didn't find anything on this, but I am going to change my fogs to HID this weekend and lookin for some help before I get into this.

Just changing the bulb is easy. Get on your back and slide under the bumper. Unclip the wiring harness from the bulb then twist bulb to release and pull out. Installation is in the reverse order.
But what you want to do is switch from halogen to HID. So you have to also install a ballast to power the HID bulbs. Where do you plan on locating the ballast? You could just stick it to the inside of the bumper with some double sided tape or Velcro and risk it falling off. Last month i installed both HID fog lights and head lights so i had to take the bumper off. I would suggest you take the bumper off. Not only does it give you plenty of room to work but it also reveals a decent place to place the ballast on the metal bumper just above where the fog lights are. It doesn't look like much if any water gets in there. Taking the bumper off is easy and is the same for the 6th and 6.5gen so it shouldn't be hard to find a write-up for that using the search. I also installed a relay kit that fed power straight from the battery to the ballast's. Some argue that its not needed and some say that it is but it will guarantee that your HID's get a full voltage and will not flicker.
If you want to tackle this yourself the search button will find you all the information that you need. Its been covered many times. Another option is to get a service/repair manual and it will show you that you can practically dismantle your maxima with a 10mm socket and a Philip's screw driver. Of if you can find a kind soul in your area that could show/do it for you. Myself i work for beer as many people do. So if you wanna make a drive to KY ill be more than happy to show you how to do everything but you gotta bring at least a case of bud light and better be ready for a good time.

I'm very capable of doin it myself. Just didn't find a write up on the 6.5 gen. I'm most likely gonna take the bumper of since i was gonna upgrade the hid headlights to 8000k. Then while i was in there do the fogs in hid 8000k. Just thought I'd ask before i dug into it. Thought maybe some one had a trick to doin it without removing the whole bumper.
you dont have to remove the front bumper.
all you really need to do is removed the 2 bottom side screws hold the inner fender to the bumper. Push the fender out of way and stick your hand in there and reach for the fog light.
you will feel it.... just watch out for small rodents jumping out from your engine bay.
twist the bulb counter clock wise and it will slip right out from the fog light housing.
pop the factory bulb out and replace it with your new bulb.
and then pop in the fog light back into the housing and turn clock wise to lock into place.... thats it!

I am very interested in learning this as I would like to change my fog lights too. I want very bright whites. Any recommendations on brand, intensity and where to get it?
2LEET4U, can you give a detailed write-up on how to change the fog bulbs and post pics, if you don't mind? That would be very helpful. And tools to use too.
Hey BOOTZ, I thought you wanted to put HID in your fog. Did you do it or just swap the bulbs? What kind or brand of bulb did you use and where did you buy it from?

To replace the fogs all you have to do is remove 2 screws from the bottom of each side. The ones that hold the wheel well to the bumper. Then pull it out enough that you can see right in to the fogs. Just reach in and turn it counter clockwise. Pretty simple.
PetitFrereMaxima, yea I went with HID. The company was Xentec. Got em off ebay, there are the slim digital ballasts.

If I could do it over I would replace all the lights with 6000k or even 5000k. The 8000k look nice but you lose some light output. I only went with 8000k cuz I got the headlight bulbs for free.

Guys, I would pull the tire, and then remove the whole inner fender liner. It really isn't that hard, and you can have it out in under 10 minutes. Then you have plenty of room to work. If you don't have access to a jack/jack stands, then you'll just have to turn your wheel all the way towards the side you're working on and just remove the corner screws for the inner fender liner as suggested.
