What's the easiest way to tell if your 6th gen came with HIDS??

I recently smoked my headlights and I'm looking for HIDs but I have no clue if they came with it or not.. I'm assuming it didn't, but looking at the headlights I didnt see a bulb, it looked more like a circle a little smaller than a CD for the main light. I'm just going to stop talking because I dont know anything about headlights/hids.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

If I remember correctly, the car would have to have the factory leather package....

Well its very hard to tell now, since I have a dark smoke over them. If someone can confirm that HIDS only come with the leather package then that would definitely solve my problem, although it seems unlikely that you couldn't get HIDS without leather.

Either way, you would be able to tell the color of the light....

Well they look dirtyish yellow but I figured that could be from the tint too?

Thanks for the help

When you turn HIDs on, the light pops on immediately, and then brightens for about 10-15 seconds to full brightness. The light is a distinct bluish/white light. Halogen lights come on and dont brighten and have a yellowish dimmer light. Also, if you take your headlight out, the HID is distinctive looking. It has a metal rod and wire on the outside of it.

Dude,

You would know if you have them, especially if you do any night driving. The difference between HIDs and halogens is like night and day.

Take a look at the gray cover on the back of the headlight and you will see the bulb wires going through a grommet.

If there are 4 wires, you have Halogen.
If there are only 2 wires, you have factory HID. (The missing 2 wires come in from the ballast underneath the headlight.)

Just FYI, I've got leather and no HIDs.

It's part of the driver's preferred package I think.

also, pop the hood and look above the light. if you have hid's you will see orange warning stickers (prob about the size of a stamp) warning about HID dangers...

as deus said, hids need some time to warm up to achieve the full brightness... regular halogens just pop open...

If i'm not mistaken take your VIN# to the dealer and have them look it up. Or call Nissan and have then look it up. All factory options info is kept by Nissan.

I have my 2 spare Xenon bulbs here and still have the factory bulbs working from Sept 2003. Never had bulbs last so long. Both my fog lights are out though. I think they are H3 bulbs with the rat tail. Need inspection next month so better get on it.
