Has anyone ever done a mod by making this light for Canada only as a clear parking light like the 5.5 gen and use the orange bulb for turn signals only? I think I might explore that option when I take things apart to do a bulb change coming up soon.

What's going on guys,
I have a question..
I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima, SL. Ever since I bought the car I've heard this funny little noise at exactly 1000 Rpms. This is how it happens..
If my Rpm Needle Moves below the 1000 rpm tic mark on the gauge, I hear a noise..it sounds like ..hmm.. something electric in nature.. almost like something is activated and it makes a noise.. it dosn't sound like anything bad it's just got me curious to find out what it is.

like I said this happens when the RPM needle passes the 1000 rpm tic mark on the gague, wether it's passing it on the way down, or on the way Up. it's only at that exacly moment that the gague passes that 1000 rpm tic mark.

I know it's not the actual needle/Gague because the sound comes from under the hood, So i I know it's not the gague, YOU CAN BARELY HEAR THIS THING so if any of you will try to figure it out, You have to listen carefully. I suspect it's a component electrical in nature... but i'm just guessing.

I apologize if my discreption of this isn't detailed..lol.
I'm not a auto mechanic nor am I auto savvy..
I've never worked on a car ..at all.
I'm a helicopter mechanic ( yea I know..strange). first thing I worked on as a mechanic was a CH-46E in the marines .. So I'm not a car guy.

Help a brother figure out what this noise is all about...I'm just curious that's all.

Thanks alot.
Wazim

No need to take off bumper just have some patience and a steady hand and you can do them. Done my already but like those GTs, may use them next time I need to change

another bulb blew (Hella) so i ordered a set of cheap ebay bulbs again. had both sides done in less than 10 minutes.

these are higher wattage (100 vs 55) and are pretty bright

And I'm keepin' it going!

I just replaced both of mine in about 20-25 minutes. As mentioned before, the driver's side is a piece of cake with an aftermarked intake (Nismo CAI, for me). The pass. side was quite a bit tighter and harder to see, but still didn't take too long.

I used Sylvania SiverStar H3's.

I bought 100w bulbs a while back and they broke something under the hood. Fogs would not turn on and there was no clicking sound like the headlights make when turned on. Dealership said they "control module" needed to be replaced. "Warranty".

Thinking of replacing them with HIDs but need to look for where to put another set of ballsts.

With 100 watts I think you may have fried something important under the hood.

My daughters Max has one fog out. I bought a two pack and plan to replace both this weekend. I'm thinking about going in from the top on one light and trying the wheel well splash guard removal on the other side. I'll report back if I get it done.

It would of been easier if you just took off the bumper,it's more room to work with and you don't have to keep turning the steering wheel everytime you have to work on a side.I replaced mine with hid.

I ran a foglight harness and customized a H3 bulb to fit it.Looks way better

A week ago I indicated that I needed to put one fog light in for my daughter's 04. Bought the PIAA H3 Crystal Yellow ( IMO better for actual fog) Well I did it this AM. Took me about 40 minutes to do BOTH of them. The air dam/snorkel took a few minutes to remove. I pulled out the box for the air filter and set it aside. One screw. BTW you may want to vacumn out that open chamber below the air filter box. I spotted trash in mine and just used the vacumn hose to clean it out.

The passenger side took a little longer but with patience it all comes apart. Removed the filler tube for the windshield washer fluid - twist and pull out. Then got the radiator tank out. Two screws. All 10mm.

Wore some latex gloves. Used a needlenose to pull the black plastic terminal holder out of the weatherproof covers then removed the H3 and installed new ones on both sides. Reversed the installation procedure. The bulbs are held in with a spring that you can see. I looked at how it unlatched then I just put my hand it and unsnapped it. Reinstalling the H3 requires you to insure that they are lined up with the two posts on each side of the holder. You can see the cutouts in the bulb holder. Get them lined up and they fit in fine.

I agree. Skinny hands work better. Whole thing was done in about 40 mintes from hood up to hood down.

I could not see how removing the plastic wheel well covers afforded easier access so I just went in from the top.

OH. I disconnected the battery first.

Bumper off is the easiest; just did it 2 weeks ago. Sounds like a pain, but it is easy.

I have spent way to much money on foglight bulbs. Had to replace them twice last year and they both are out again. Im thinking they will stay that way.

I found these H3 size smd LED bulbs on ebay. I'm gonna try it out and let you guys know. These should hopefully last the remaining life of the car.

I tried some LED H3s and they didn’t work. They fit in the housing fine just did not light up at all. I figure they either need a load resistor or maybe the polarity is reversed on them. Either way I didn’t mess with them was just looking for an easy drop in not a project. Let us know if you get yours to work. The two I bought below are ones that don’t work in our cars.

I bought too many PIAA crystal ion bulbs. Finally converted to HID yellow bulbs. Still working amazingly well.
