2004 foglight bulb replacement

damn what a ***** that was.... had to remove the airbox/snorkel to get to the drivers side and the coolant reservoir and fill spout for the washer fluid on the passenger side. granted it was only a few clips and 2 10mm bolts to release the coolant tank- but getting into those cramped quarters to change those little H3 bulbs was a PITA.

Cramped? Very
If you remove the parts I listed, it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes start to finish
Bulbs are H3- and remember, don't touch the bulb with your bare hands. Its halogen. I wore latex gloves.
the spout for the washer fluid res turns COUNTER clockwise to remove
the only tools you should need is a 10mm socket for the coolant res. everything else pops apart.
shouldnt take longer than 30 mins

Definitely a PITA. Put NOKYA 2500k H3s in. Hope they don't blow soon.

Nah for fogs you don't need to go the bumper route, for those of us who have taken our bumpers of numerous times it may be easier but not for the rookies!!

those are 70w. oem is 55w. it may be too much for the stock wiring harness.

I agree with taking off the bumper to do anything down in the front. Much easier from personal experience.

the ones i bought from Pep Boys were supposed to be 'hyper white'. they didnt have PIAA's either.

the replacements look no different than the stockers.

PIAA 55w Super Plasma GT's look amazing... if you don't want to spend the money to upgrade to HID's of course! The quality is great also. Plus if you order from Amazon you can get some pretty sweet deals... I paid like $35 for mine shipped for free!

Well.. Since on the foglight topic.. I wanted to ask.. On my 05 maxima I wanted to rewire the 2 turning signal bulbs at the bottom of the front bumper..can they be rewired to turn both on at the same time as the foglights?

ive taken that freaking bumper off more times than i cared for because of h.i.d issues. i could do it blind folded if i wanted. my fogs have also blew out. i suggest just slapping h.i.d for the fogs. that would solve that problem. thats the route im going. 1 more time of dropping that bumper for a bulb is going to make me snap

Pain in the **** to do anything in the front. I've dropped the bumper in the past to replaced HID in the headlights (one of them burned out, remember to always change in pairs) and forgot that I had to replace the fog lights. Needless to say 3+ years I haven't used the fogs because I don't have time to drop it again and replace it. I won't even mention the LED and HID kits that I bought years ago and are still sitting on the shelf.

Blah blah blah same damn problem with my fog lights...and it was a beep* to change them out too. Nissan is trying very hard to make it impossible for us to work on our cars, so that way we have to take it to the dealer so they can take more money!!! I was buying Nissan to keep jobs in America and this is what I get in return. materials are "made in taiwan" or something?

Nope, the reason they made the lights so hard to get to on the 6th gen was because the 5th gen was infamous for having the HID's stolen. So they locked them down! Back then there weren't close to as many cars with HID's as there are today...

Still a PITA I will admit though!

Holy crap. I changed the passeger side fog today. It was a little tricky but I got it done. I went with the standard halogen, for 1/3 the price of silverstars 4100k and last 4 times longer. I went with these b/c I dont feel like doing this each year. My oem fog bulb lasted 4 1/2 years and 60,000 miles and that is good enough for me.

Welcome Dave, I say just put HID in your lights instead of buying those crappy ones in autozone, pepboys, or advance auto. They last longer too.

wtf my passenger is out... the fog issue is more contagious than H1N1... I think this will be my 5th total?

Maybe I will finally give in and go the HID route... but that will deduct from other mods i've been saving for.

well hell, http://forums.maxima.org/group-deals...og-lights.html

I think I shall go HID yellow fogs if only $100-130...

just replaced the fogs on an 04.

honestly not as bad as i thought. the driver's side is easiest, especially if you have an intake. passenger side is a little tighter in space, but same process as the driver's side.

that is for Canada. they are not required therefore not even installed for US models.

you guys all crack me up just put the car in park, pull the E brake, and remove the front part of the wheel well. you have direct access to the bulbs and takes seriously 5 minutes each side even for the not so experienced. Remember there are a couple clips under the bumper that need to come off to move it. It's cake and gives you access to the headlight bulbs too. they are a bit tricky but much easier than removing the front bumper or all the other crap from under the hood. Hope this helps

I replaced my wheel well cover because it was cracked and I was replacing the fogs at the same time. I found it to be easier ( for me) to go thru the top. Just removed the airbox.

yea but that is only one side. Plus you only remove the front half of the wheel well not the whole thing. I have done all three ways. Well I didn't remove the bumper to do the foglights, but I have removed the bumper a couple times. I prefer the wheel well over the other two methods by far. a bit dirty but wear latex gloves and your good.

thought about ur way before and really think it works, can u just steer the wheel away or have to take it off ? didnt know why I still take bumper off, well for me its only matter around 15mins to get it off

if you are not lowered, you allready have about 3-4 inches from the wheel to the wheel well. I recommend just jacking up the side you need to access, wheels straight and remove just the front half of the wheel well. Bend back and easy access. GL
