Hey guys I have a completely stock 06 SE that between ~1700RPM to ~2000RPM it make a slight squeeking/whining noise from the front end. Wondering if anyone has had this before? I'm thinking something from the tranny but i'm not a mechanic. Hopefuly will be taking to the dealership soon as I have a 100k mi drivetrain warranty (only at 38K right now). Its been happening for a while. My G/F took it for an oil change last time and told them but they said they weren't able to reproduce it (big surprise). If I take it I will be taking them for a ride to let them hear it first hand.

 

I have the same thing on my 04 SL. To me it sounds like some sort of mechanical, resonance from a metal part on the outside of the engine. I've checked the heat shields and tried tightening things up but with no luck. Mine only comes at low speed, ~30 mph, and 1700-2000 RPM. Let me know if you find the problem because I've given up.

 

If its the famous sound of metal grinding together, it's the timing chain tensioner problem.. My car is doing the same thing!!!

 

I took my car to the shop on Monday 9/28/09, it's the timing belt and there was arecall on 2004-2007 maxima's and altimas (I think) paper in the car. now my car is jerking. I have tried to find out the noise for the longest and no one has ever been able to figure it out. The man at the mechanic shop printed the recall sheet out for me and advise me to call Nissan Inc and raise holy hell even though my nissan max is 05 it has 81K but since it was a recall he said the company should do something. I'm calling first thing in the morning. 1.800.nissan1. Other wise it will cose 1500.00 to fix on my own.

 

I don't want to create a separate so I was hoping someone can help me here since it kind of relates.

I know there is another LONG thread about how there is a TSB for also this whining noise.

So basically right now when I start the car in the morning I have this loud noise coming from the engine which sounds like squeaking as if the belts are in bad condition. I have an 07 SL. Also this does not happen everyday, but more like once a week or so. I'm not sure what triggers it to come sometimes and not others. So is this also the TSB on the timing chain tensioners?
