Oil Change Recommedation

alright...I'm sure I could look through the forum and get this response elsewhere from a FAQ post or a past post, but I'd like to know right away with minimal effort.

I purchased a used '06 Max a couple of months ago and am due for my first oil change (at least I think so). I just hit the 3,000 Mile mark since I purchased the car. I'm curious to know....am I even due for an oil change at this point?

If I am....what does everyone recommend in terms of oil? Does everyone do it themselves (which I'm capable of)...or do you bring your Max to the dealer? Jiffy Lube? etc.

I'm a huge fan of this vehicle and want to take care of it as long as possible. I'm sure all of you feel the same way about your Max so give me your recommendation please!!! Thanks!!

now, castrol edge 5w30 or 10w30, do it yourself. filter is next to passenger's side wheel well behind some plastic. easy to get to.
