Introducing new Racingline Traction Rods for the 04-08 Nissan Maxima

Traction Rods are used to absorb unwanted deflection in the OEM control arm. Largely do to the OEM's rubber bushings, under hard acceleration the control arms natural motion of up and down can be compromised by the forces created as the axles try to turn the front wheels. This deflection is then translated in to things like wheel hop and under some circumstances, torque steer.

Traction Rods help to ensure the correct suspension geometry under acceleration and stop the "toe-in/toe-out" condition created when the car is under load. This assists in power transmission to the ground and therefore faster acceleration in straight lines and coming out of corners in both wet and dry conditions. Some additional toe adjustment for front alignment may also be obtained.

Easily mounts to the car in less than one hour. Almost no ground clearance is lost during the installation of these Traction Rods. As measured on a vehicle lowered 2", the lowest point of the kit is 1/4" higher than the subframe and directly in line with the wheels center line so there is no risk of scraping the rod on a speed bump.

Perfect for any car that sees track duty, whether it be drag or autoX, the difference in feel and power transmission is felt immediately!

Nice! Had no idea you were working on these! As I understand it, they aren't for daily use, but for when you are on the track, correct?

 

I've been quiet but I haven't forgotten about you guys....

It's encouraged for track use only but they can be run on the street without damaging them. My 2 test cars have been daily driving them for the last 2 months (one tester is an on the road salesman so the cars sees lots of miles).

The design does not inhibit or interfere with any suspension travel or operation. Also note the brackets shown in the pic were an early sample.. the ones supplied with the production kit are much stronger and thicker, with better gusseting.

 

so... no benefit for street/everyday use?

That would depend on how you drive on the street. If these essentially eliminate deflection which is probably attributed to the stock rubber bushings, then the benefits would be seen all the time. However, I have never been a proponent for heim joints for street suspension. Those are typically used in race applications and eliminate flex but also transmit vibrations. In race applications the suspension is checked over constantly to inspect for failure. Street cars are usually a set and forget type of deal. They get installed and never checked again.

I would be interested to see the benefits of polyurethane bushings to replace the factory rubber. They have been used with success to eliminate deflection and therefore, wheel hop.

Exactly how much is zero to 60 time reduced by the use of these rods? Or has such a test not yet been conducted? Thanks...

 

I imagine you will drop a tenth or two to 60 mph. I think these will be much more noticeable under aggressive driving.

 

Our test car noticed an average 0.2 seconds off his 0-60 times


definitely, but those that keep them on will also see some benefit while street driving as well and in corners.

here's a few guys who posted on the other forums about he parts performance so far, it's a little lat ein the season so alot more track result and reviews will come in the spring I'm sure since most tracks are closing up for the season except in CA, AZ, FL, TX, and a few others

How much MORE aggressively can you drive from zero to sixty than you do during a 0-60 run? Am I missing something here?

I suspect my ebay control arm bushings are causing a clunking noise.... so if you guys make bushings and I still havent figured out my issue, I'll but them from you and try em.

 

why are these recommended only for track use??

 

when your auto-X or drag this helps reduce wheel spin for better launch, I dont suppose you dump 4K RPM in 1st gear during your run to the grocery store ?

street cars / daily cars will benifits as well but this is like advance suspension101

 

i ran similar rod on my s14 and granted that car had 500whp but even putting them on more stock dailys give you a better feel for the road. i say its just another step to lowering kit, strut bars, sway bars and links

Yes Mark they are on the Racingline Performance website and have since gone trough 2 revisions making them even stronger and quieter for track and daily street use

i understand that part. what i mean is, why would you not want to run them on the street, are there any cons to street use? I do drag race this car but its also my daily.

Resurrecting a dead thread here...however...

I'm wondering about putting these on my daily driver. Also wondering about how they get adjusted. Am I reducing the length, essentially snugging it up to prevent toe-out? Or am I to expand the length to prevent toe-in?
