Trans issues... kinda...
Trans issues... kinda...
I know all about the trans issues in the 6th gens. Having said this, here's my story.
I had the trans in my 04 SL replaced last February under the dealership warranty. It was a reman'd Nissan trans. Now, with having put less that 10,000 miles on it, it's starting to act up again, like it did before I replaced it. Now, it's not as bad as it was before hand, but it's an odd problem. Basically, it seems to take forever for it to shift, especially when the trans is cold, even though the engine temp is normal, then when it does shift, it chirps the tires going into second like it has a shift kit. Normally, that would be a good thing, but it's a Maxima, not a big block Camaro with a turbo 400.
Another thing to mention is that when the trans was replaced last February, the warranty company refused to pay to have the external trans filter replaced. I opted not to have the filter replaced because it was well over $100, and didn't have the money for it at that time. Is it possible that some clutch pak particles may have stayed in the filter, and is slowly killing my trans again? The tech that did my transmission cleaned out the filter with some sort of cleaner and air dryed it as best as possible.
Another thing is that I already work for a Nissan dealership, and the trans has a 1 year 12k warranty on it. Should I file another claim to get the trans replaced under the new warranty, and risk losing my job (kind of a fraud if I don't tell them about the filter not being replaced) or should just live with it for now? I have the funds to pay for a new filter now, but if this trans is going bad again and it needs to be replaced under the new warranty, they may send a Nissan rep out to look into it a little more, so they may notice that the filter is original.
Any ideas? I'm kinda at a loss here...
Thanks!
Brian

wait so you work for Nissan ? Honestly it sounds like the tranny is going to start on its way out.
I had mines replace twice , the 2nd tranny had 15K miles on it.
I put a new filter and amsoil fluids and about 3-4months of driving it start to slip again.
at this point I pretty much gave up last year.
I dont think they can fire you about filing it to NissanUSA.
