Transmission Issues....I think

...it's been a very long while since I posted here and it's very nice to see a few recognizable names still around, with that said this is my issue...

For a while now I've noticed that the way my Maxima drives is getting progressively worse and worse. To start, at times, when I shift from Reverse to Drive, it gives a very loud "bang" or "kick". The same thing occurs at times when the car is shifting up, or when it's down shifting, and those at times are pretty damn bad. They sound as if though I've gone over a pothole or something with the loud banging noise it does and the strong kick you feel. There's also the issue that when it does shift and it doesn't kick or bang, it sounds as if though the gear slipped or something and in some instances I have to ease up from the accelerator because the car doesn't seem to want to shift until I release the accelerator slightly. Finally, as of late I've been feeling like a "sputtering" feeling when driving at times similar to going on a bumpy surface, but only the car is driving on a smooth road. I'm already preparing myself for a new tranny, bu can it be that perhaps it may be other things and not necessarily a tranny issue?

I was afraid that may be it, but either way I was anticipating that, so no surprise just means I gotta pony up a few grand to fix that problem

Before you go spending loads of money

http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...ssion-fix.html

There is now a fix for these issues.

If you get these parts , I can recommend you ATFspeed.com

to install it, if do decide to go this route , let me know , I will give a heads up to ATF , they are located by 595 in Davie.

Im sorry i really dont know much. Please when you say fix, does that mean that if my transmission is bad, all i need to do to fix it,

would be to buy the shift kit, and then take it to a transmission repair shop to install it.

Or does my Transmission need to be replaced/repaired/rebuilt before i can install the shift kit ?

Urgent please

The shift kit should be all you need... depending on what's really wrong of course... but from what you are describing, the kit should be enough.

For those of you doing this shift kit and sonnax parts valvebody rebuild thing, I recommend if your tranny does go for some reason to reuse the parts out of the valvebody the best you can.

Yes. If for some reason you were too late putting the kit in, and the transmission needs replaced.
