The tranny.s in mid-04,05,06 have issues Nissan won't Man up and do a recall on a poorly built transmission because it would cost them a fortune. I took my 05 in for a routine belt change and my mechanic did not like the way the tranny down shifted so Nissan replace the tranny under warranty my car only had 53000 miles at the time of the replacement my orig tranny seemed fine however the downshifts were ruff sometimes, it could of lasted maybe for alot longer who knows but they were very cool and replaced the whole thing at no charge. Most people who have major problems complain that they have real bad up and down shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd when slowing. Not all people have these issues if you do alot of city stop and go it would probably happen a lot faster I do mostly hwy so my orig would of probally lasted a lot longer. Once the tranny goes bad it usually gets stuck in a safe gear which allows you to get to a repair shop slowly.

reset the ecu, if that doesn't work, check the camshaft position sensors. i would look into doing the 5 speed tranny fix. search re5f22a.
