Transmission problems never end!

tranny #2... gone

So im driving, and come to a stop sign.. stop... 1st gear was very slow in response and was grinding/vibrating at high RPMs... this did it for about a mile more until i got to my destination.. it was also very hard for it to shift to second... come to a stop at a parking lot, and gone. wont move. reverse? same thing... barely moves at high rpms with vibration. this transmission has 1500 miles on it! thats it!!!! it is under warranty but however i do not want to do this every few thousand miles. wtf!... help???

eh ? Ive been almost battling this tranny issue since I got the car about 2 years ago , I notice it and made as much noise as I did with Nissan,

Even my buddy being the Head Tech at Nissan ( and im a former Nissan Tech)

called Nissan USA , they stood with their fingers in their **** and did nothing.

They knew excatly what was going on because Volvos and Saturns where also having the same issues with the tiptronic.

Nissan wanted to do this since Acuras already have them even in the 2000 Preludes.

After years and years , 2 trannys I gave up and first to convert it to a 6SPD tranny.

I couldnt be any happier with my 6spd.

There is a fix look down a few threads for the transgo kit.

Yeah... re: the "fix"

http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...ssion-fix.html

I doubt you could get that kit installed under any kind of warranty... most likely you will have to pay out of pocket... $130ish for the parts... and an extra $4-500 for labor.

Yeah that's definitely what I would do. Sucks that a defective tranny is making you pay out of your own pocket to get it fixed.

the bright side is at least i dont have to pay another 2500 for a new tranny... so nissan WILL give me another one... labor cost? idk yet. but the this re5f22a fix is $$$

Honestly if your good with the Techs at Nissan or find someone in your area that knows a Tech , see if they can install this kit ONLY after Nissan said they will do your warranty,

Then again some techs dont go inside the tranny, they just replace it.

Depends on the level tech or if hes a master tech, or willing to pay him on the side

yeah i just thought of that, i doubt it. they will just install another rebuiilt tranny. also this kit will most likely void the warranty

I just had my tranny replaced about a month ago the orig was going bad hard down shifts, is this what I have to look forward too it going bad again???? I guess i will drive the car to the end of the extended warranty and than get rid of it to bad Nissan wont man up and fix them properly hopefully no one will get injured or killed before they realize they have a defective transmission. And I really like this car its smooth and drives well it only has 55000 miles on it I haven't had any problems but the tranny and the mechanic that services my car recommend the tranny change the only thing I noticed was a hard down shift between 3rd to 2nd on the orig. I guess he did me a favor or did he???

Nissan is paying 1/2

I have been a loyal repeat Nissan customer since my 86 Z. I contacted Nissan and stressed that point during my complaint about this very same issue. They agreed to pay $1500 towards the repair. I still have to come up with another $1700, however. My Nissan adviser says that he has seen Nissan pay anywhere from 0 to 100% to fix this problem. I don't know what they are basing their decision on. I am "fortunate" to get half paid for. I have an 05 Max with 5 payments remaining...of course I am out of warranty. This is really disappointing!!! Especially since my 95 Max is still going strong with 250k on it. BTW...my problem started at 90k exactly.

The Trannys are crap I think Nissan knows but if they due a recall it would cost them a fortune and you would only be getting the same tranny with the same issues I guess they wont properly fix them until some gets hurt?!?! Went to the dealer with my new tranny complaining the way it shifts from 2nd to 3rd(shifts a little hard in both directions) and they pressure tested it and said it was fine and running normal. With a crappy warranty 1 year 12000 ???? They know its a bad design transmission with that warranty!!! However ever time I go in for a oil change I will keep complaining so it's in the records and if something happens most likely they will replace it after the warranty is up do to the log of complaints that I given them there pretty good about that.
