Replacement CAT

After doing a search I was forced to make a new thread. My Cat on my Maxima will need to be replaced in the future. I recall some company making a fitment with a metal core cat, but it was not available yet. I was wondering what some of you guys are using or ordered from to replace the cat? I'm not looking into having so much hp gains, but to perform the preventative maintenance regarding the cat. I have seen somewhere a new High eff cat could cost me like $550+ or so. I'm don't want my car to sound so loud with a roar, but something nice and smooth somewhat like a G35? Suggestions?

Yeah, are you talking about the one in the Y-pipe? If so you have options but it won't really change the sound of your car at all if that is the only thing you change.

If it's one of the manifold cats, you have a bigger problem.

I believe it would be the ones at the exhaust manifold which I saw some people took pics of the ceramic core breaking apart. I'm nowhere near the point I should foresee any major issues happening as I am at only 51000 miles/82000 Km. I was just thinking of replacing the Cats that I should as preventative maintenance and I know I should get a little boost from doing so. Originally I thought of getting a cat back system, but I have heard mixed things that they are pointless unless you either remove or change your cat.

The only way to replace those is to get new OEM manifolds, or to remove them completely with Cattman headers.

If you aren't having issues, don't worry about it for now.

Cats are under an 8 year/80,000 warranty.
