Will OEM Nissan HID ballasts light aftermarket 9006 HID bulbs?

Well, the title states my question and reason for my thread. Basically to give you guys a quick explanation, this is what took place. Long story short..(my car originally had OEM HID's) Had a minor accident, decided to replace both headlights with NON-HID aftermarket housings. I was able to keep ALL parts of my stock headlights except the housings themselves. So i have harnesses, ballasts, bulbs, all projector lenses etc... The new headlights have the cut out, so to speak, where the ballasts mount. I want to take a rotozip to cut out the circle for the ballasts, and wire aftermarket 9006 hid bulbs to my stock nissan ballasts. Will this work??

Yes, Body shop just recently did that with my passenger headlight. The housing was cracked but the bulbs,projectors/ballast was fine. Ordered the aftermarket housing and they drilled a hole. Like new.

Yeah thanks...you happen to be incorrect tho. 9006 is only the bulbs BASE style, it can be HID or Halogen..in this case, and as it is stated in my original post..i am looking to light a 9006 HID BULB with the OEM nissan ballasts.

If you go to Sparkhid then you can purchase Nissan ballast for cheap!

I saved alot of $ instead of going to dealership that charged hundreds of $.

This is what you Can do... it only an option, but a danm good one, You can take out the OEM NON-HID projector from the housing without taking it all apart... go to TRS buy some EVO-Xr projectors which are a direct replacement for the halogen projectors... and if you still have all the bulbs, and ballasts, then you are good to go... EVO-X projectors run you about 150 plus shipping. Easy fix, and an AMAZING upgrade.

Why would you want to go with non HID when the purpose of the HID is to give a larger illumination? It's sounds like a complicated project for less.I think the satisfacton of the HID is way better than converting to non HID,besides you'll miss the lighting output that the HID gives out

You have to take the headlight apart on the halogen housing , the projector is huge . OP you can do what you stated above but just get some name brand HID bulbs . I did this with my 6.5 conversion .
