Best transmission fluid...

What is the best transmission fluid out there for our car? I have used Royal Purple and also Nissan Matic K. I am currently running around with Nissan Matic K, however I am getting a cooler this week and the shift kit installed very soon and was thinking about going with AMSOIL. One of the performance shops out here told me to stick with Nissan Matic K because they have had their Acura trans fail after adding the AMSOIL to their car. They said that AMSOIL might not have all the minerals needed for our trans. Please post if you have used anything other than Nissan Trans Fluid and how many miles you are going with that fluid.

that's what this thread is for. I am wondering the same question. I have used Royal Purple before but only for a couple hundred miles. I didn't see a difference and to me it seemed like the tranny would heat up faster causing the problems earlier than when I used OEM. I have done a ton of reading on the Amsoil tranny fluid and it seems to be the best on the market next to a fluid made by Castrol for a specific vehicle. I am one to think if Nissan screwed up on the selection of transmission to begin with then how can I trust them on the type of fluid to go into this transmission to be the best. Seems to me like they are cutting corners and skimping on their products.

LOL Oh, it happens!

Yeah check the new thread for pics! Thanks meng!!!

I'm holding off on mods for quite awhile. If anything, just high-flow cats, and maybe an exhaust. Surprisingly, the stock intakes are already pretty damn good.

How long do you guys let the tranny fluid drain for? It's time for me to drain it before my road trip, I was considering letting it drain for 4 hours? then maybe jack it up at the rear to see if I can get more out.

I just wasted 150 plus on some amsoil for my 2004 maxima 5spd auto. I don't think this is meant for our cars no matter what they say. I sent an email to them. After the first drain and a run to orlando I noticed unsmooth shifts and a strong tranny smell(More dexron like) also no leaks. Put car back on lift drained again did this about four times . Made a run to ft lauderdale car didn't shift as crisp or pull as hard as before. Redrained and put in some Havoline Multi vehicle we have here at the dealership I work at (That i have been using previously for the last 30,000 plus miles and my car is driving and shifting normal again. Sorry for the long drawn out post. But don't blow money like me. I will say i do believe in their motor oil

it's just oil? what is that supposed to mean? All oils are created differently and work differently.

I ended up using Nissan's Matic-K for my trans. I was allmost convinced on using Matic-S, which is Infiniti's replacement oil for the Matic-K.

Exact words from dealership when I went in with my first tranny problem. 2 transmissions and a shift kit later proves they are full of ____ <fill in the blank. Also when I went to Infiniti to get two extra quarts of Matic-K, the sales rep said they don't use Matic-K in any of their cars anymore. Matic-S replaced Matic-K, which used to be used in some of their cars.
