I'm thinking about spacing my wheels on my 2007 max, any suggestions on this little project? As to how wide I should make them?

why putting on the spacers? A wider wheel with the right offset should fit with no spacers and if going to far out it will rub.

go either 5 or 10 mm... no more than that.

The A32 & A33 chassis require spacers for an even stance without using a staggered set-up. IIRC, the A34 may be the same. I remember !PRJ also found this out the hard way.

i thought wheels had different offset front to back from the factory. Learn something new every day

That’s commonly referred to as staggered. Our cars do not come this way, some cars do.

yea, i always referred to staggered as wheels also having different width, my TA has different offset front to back but same width from factory

won't the staggered setup make the ride quality worse - ie shimmy, steering wheel rattle etc etc...

my handling seemed as good if not better when i had staggered offsets. but the rubbing on uneven payment, or if anyone sat in the back sucked.

I use 2" spacers on the front of my TA with no issues. as long as the spacer is retorqued after driving few miles they stay on with no issues. If spacer thin and doesn't have studs then the original studs might not be long enough.

I've been using spacers for a very very long time as well, no problems/complaints.

A quality set of spacers will come with extended lugs. All 3 of my sets did. (5 , 10, 20mm respectively)
