condensation in my headlight

Ok I know this has been spoke off be for but I had a aftermarket HID kit installed the shop that did it cut the Hole on the back cover to big now
im getting condensation in my right headlight it's because that little
rubber seal isn't isn't covering the hole completely.

Do I have to buy a now headlight? is there any way to cover the hole

Thanks

Did you talk to the shop about repairing/replacing the light? I'm sure they guarantee their workmanship...

have you considered using some of (as seen on TV) magic putty to make the hole smaller? it sets up and seems to last well on the projects I've used it on.

Let the head light dry out in the sun or use a heat gun or hair dryer to speed up the process. Fill in any gaps with RTV sealant. Also lift up the lip of the grommet and put a bead of RTV. And make sure they put the rubber O ring on the bulb base and on the screw off cap on the back of the head light housing.

If they had used a 1" spade bit then hole would have been round and the perfect size. I put a bead of RTV under the lip of the grommet and haven't had any condensation in a year.

My personal opinion is don't touch it. Go back to that shop that did this crappy job and have them fix the problem or replace the headlight. You touch that and attempt to fix the problem and fail, they will use that against you and will not warranty their works because they will say that you messed with it and messed it up. Let them fix it.

+1 on that - agree with Raz 100% -- I've been burned like that in the past and it's not fun at all....

Yea, it will come off if you pick and pull on it.

Getting it off of your clothes is a different story though. I use the stuff at work and have lil patches of it on some of my work pants/shirts from where i wipe it off my fingers.

I agree too. Before you spend any money buying sealant or other products to fill the gap take it back to them and see what they do. They should have a remedy to fix it or simply replace your headlight and hopefully they will get it right the second time around.
