So it's been 2 days in a row that I wake up to my 2 front windows completely wide open ... and both times, luckily my GPS and other crap was still in the car.

First time, I thought I may have had the remote in my pocket and accidentally pushed the unlock button for 3 sec causing the windows to go down... but even though I was pretty sure the key wasn't in my pocket... I figured it can't be anything else... This morning, when I saw them down again, I realized something must be wrong.

Here is what has changed in the last couple of days that might be the problem.

I swapped different batteries from different remotes (I have 3 maxima remotes and 2 sentra remotes) and had them all open trying to put the best batteries in the best (newest looking/least worn out) remotes.

Also, I have been working on installing a sub and amp and had the dash/radio completely apart as well as speaker wires in the back. DOn't think any of that had anything to do with it though

Lastly, I did see many other similar issues on the net and other forums... mostly with Altima's though.

So, anyone else have this issue or know of a fix? I will start with removing both batteries in my 2 other Maxima remotes. I have never used either of them and both were dead when I bought the car used... maybe that's why they had dead batteries in there.. cause one of them is the culprit!!

 

I had this happen and found out my kid was playing with my remote and realized he was holding the unlock button down where the windos will go all the way down! Guard and protect your remote and see if it still happens!!!!

 

Myodnansky, makes sense. If it was some short in a wire or something the windows would go down but the short would cause the motor to still continue trying to roll down the window even after it was fully down, which would lead to burnt motor by the morning. I could be wrong if the motor has some sort of safety but thats just a idea.

 

Check to make sure you didnt tap any of your remote/lock/security power/ground lines.

Its possible you have tapped into it and due to voltage spikes when your car is off it may possibly make your car think your holding the unlock button which would then lower your windows randomly.

 

You might wanna take that into a dealership. Or if your lucky, then you could take it to a friend that's a mechanic.

 

do you have an aftermarket alarm system installed. Could be malfunctioning. I couldn't live with something like that happening. keep us posted.

 

It has to be the remote.

If something was causing voltage spikes what would stop it from affecting the front windows only? Doesn't make any sense.

Try opening the remotes and cleaning the contacts with a Qtip/alcohol. It may be a button sticking that you wouldn't know about visually.

You can also stick the key in the drivers door, turn and hold it in the unlock position and the windows will go down. But again, just the two fronts...

 

Have you checked taking the battery out of the remote? Maybe its short circuiting

You know you can take your keyfob into a Nissan Dealer and have it checked to see if it is working correctly. I mentioned the aftermarket alarm system earlier because I had this happen to me. Turned out to be a faulty brain for the alarm. The windows didn't roll all the way down just half way.
