Windshield replacement

I need to replace my windshield. There is a black mask right behind the rear view mirror. Is this needed on my new windshield?

And does anyone have company to recommend in Long Island that will drop
by and do it at my work place?

thanks

One and only..., SAFELITE!

They did mine. But I drove to their shop. But they can come to you at no extra charge. Cost me I think 150, out-the-door. I will honestly say, I cannot tell my windshield has been changed. It looks perfect. And safelite gives you LIFETIME warranty for any leaks or any installation defect or glass defect. Great price, if you ask me.

I also went with Safelite. Then at the same time had a new product installed.

It's basically clear bra for the windshield. http://www.clearplex.com/

So far I'm happy with it. Had a couple rocks hit the window and not a scratch.

and i went with "SAFEME"..lol..i had to take off the rear windshield cuz i had to install @ JL 12w7 on the rear deck and i needed the widshield taken off..i called them(safelife) and they said they will take it off for $40 but they'er not responsible if they brake it..so i thought they might just crack it intentionally so i can buy one new from them..so i bought the window removal tool/knife and took it off myself.i got lucky.i didnt brake it and i installed it perfect..no leaks whatsoever
