lowering spring Eibach

hey whats up guys i just have quick question...... i just bought these Eibach
lowering springs

and im wondering if i will NEED new shocks or is that just s want?? i took my car to mechanic and he said my stock shocks are fine.. my car only have 38k miles on it ..... will i need them cause theres a 2" drop on front n thats to much stress on oem shocks?? if so anybody know which ones are good to ( plz provide links) ... i was hoping i can use stock one.... another question was will the tirres rub with drop?? i have tire size 245/45/18 ... i believe the rims have offset of 40 ..

thank you

You will be fine with stock shocks and you shouldn't have any rubbing issues

Or I was bow thinking about getting adjustable coilovers D2 .... Few of my friends told me it's a lot better then springs cause like coilover. Are $900 .. Springs ran me $300 plus $400 for shocks ( if I buy them ) then $350 to get them insalled that's $950.... N coiovers will be like $200 so .. Around $1100 .....so $150 extra not bad right ??? N I can adjust the setting on those springs I cannot

I had tein lowering springs and now I have the D2 coilovers, the coilovers give you more adjustabilty and it handles way better but you suffer when u hit bad roads since the suspension is way stiffer with coilovers

Suffer my feeling every pothole...if the streets are smooth if feels perfect but once you get into streets that are uneven ur gonna feel it...I've always like coilovers but some ppl prefer to be on lowering springs...For best handling coilovers is the way to go

I see you are in LI, New York. If you drive city streets, you may want to think very carefully about coilovers, they do not play well with potholes/uneven streets. If you drive your car in the winter, you may want to think very carefully about coilovers, they do not play well with road salt. A GOOD set of coilovers is going to run you $1200-$1500 bucks. Coilovers are a MUST for a track car, for a daily driven street car, stick with shocks/struts. If you plan on "slamming" the car, and that's why you want coilovers, then you are opening yourself up to a whole different host of problems. You are going to run into clearance issues, binding issues...etc...

I'm not sure what shocks/struts you were pricing, but if you are going to pay $400, then you are paying $200 too much. I got a complete set of KYB GR-2's off of Ebay...brand new...for $160 shipped.

I'm not sure who you are using for a mechanic, but if you are paying $350 for the install, then I'm in the wrong line of work. I just put coilovers on my buddy's GTi, and it took the better part of a morning...I could have done it even quicker, but he was second-guessing everything I was trying to do! It's pretty straightforward. If you can get your car to me, I'll install your shocks/struts springs for $100...you WILL need an alignment after the install, whether you use coilovers or shocks/struts, so you'll need another $100-$150.

^^^^ thanks for great info man ..... And no I don't plan on to slam my car... It's not going on tracks .... I'm not racing with it ... Unjust wanted to lower my car because I had gap between the front tires ... N yes my car is a daily driven car 100. Miles a day or more .... N handleing I won't be makig crazy turns ...the fastest I'll be going is 80mph at most .... I just want my ride height lower ....

So I should stay with springs right??? And can I get link for good shocks?

Thanks again for all help ... Like I said before I'm not trying to make my car a " race car" I love my car way to much I just like to drive n have nice looking car

We are extremely limited for aftermarket shocks/struts. The only thing available for us is Monroe Sensa-tracs, or KYB GR-2's. MOST people will recommend the GR-2's with lowering springs. A few people are using the Sensa-tracs with lowering springs and are happy with them. I got my KYB's from ebay from this vendor:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
He had a listing with a "best offer", and I offered $160 and he accepted. Even at $177, you're still WAYYYY under $400.

KYB GR-2 is what was recommended to me by Cattman Performance...a little firmer than stock.

There are NO adjustables available for our cars. If you want to replace your shocks struts, you have 3 choices:
OEM
Monroe Sensa-Trac
KYB gR-2
There are not a lot of options out there for us right now. I think you'll be fine with the GR-2's.

It will be a little stiffer, but Eibachs are pretty good. I don't think you need spacers or are you just gonna put them on anyway?

I just have the back and it helps the back stay firm and not roll when turning at high speeds, is it needed? not really but is it a good investment? i believe so but its up to you if you wanna spend the extra money

Leeparts also has them for a good price, as well as the Nismo kit, but their website is having issues right now, so I can't link them.

Leeparts.com

It's my understanding that the front sway bar removal/install is pretty involved...I believe you have to drop the engine cradle. The rear is pretty straightforward.

A lot. I don't think you would be able to tackle this one. You have to remove a lot of stuff and then drop the support down. Yes, engine and transmission, not much but some.

Just do the rear with the shocks/struts/springs...you'll be fine.
