questions on 07 maxima SE (please HELP) Thanks

I have 04 maxima SE and i am having issues with timing belt. I was wondering if I trade it in for 07 maxima se would I face same issues down the road? Also, on 07 maxima do they have automatic tranny issues as well? Thanks

Dude, seriously, cars are cars...there is never a sure bet.

As for tranny issues with 07, not yet, and they have been running these transmissions the the Murano for several years now. There is also 120,000m factory warranty on the CVT transmission.

What issues are you having with the timing chain?

07+ has the CVT auto trans and comes with a 10yr/120k mi warranty from Nissan (engine warranty is still 5yr/60k mi) -- not too many problems with this trans yet. Nissan put in a stronger CVT since the Max is a V6 (I think some 4 cyl Altima owners are running into problems and having the trans replaced under warranty)

We have timing chains, not belts -- theres alwys a possibility of something going bad

If you're too worried about major repairs then I recommend buying a newer car that's still under factory warranty (you can buy a used one with extended warranty but read the warranty terms carefully since they like to deny claims). Nissan is fairly reliable (better off with the Max over the Altima), but Honda/Toyota is more reliable in the long run (I went with Nissan since its more fun to drive but you can find a slightly used Camry for a good price)

Good move...2k is a heck of a lot cheaper than a loan payment.

Link to this info, I have not seen any of this plus if it is happening, it would of hit the orgs hard with its own thread. Not saying I dont believe you just saying something like this would be very popular around these sites.
