Oil Pipe Rotting?

Oil Pipe Rotting?
Looking for anyone's insight on this topic. Took my car to the dealership for service because the guy I normally go to isn't around so I had no other choice. Went for a routine Oil Change and advised them that when I open up the throttle, there is a rattling sound underneath.
They call me back and say that there are a couple of clamps that need to be replaced and (here is the shady part I need reassurance on..) that my Oil Pipe is starting to rot and needs to be replaced.
It's a 2006 Max with 57000 miles on it. What's everyone's thoughts? Has this happened to any of you at all? I had a 5th Gen with 140,000 miles on it and never heard of the "oil pipe" rotting.

I am sure this is the oil cooler pile he's talking about. I heard this is a common problem and this oil cooler line get corroded.
It happened to me recently and I had to replace this cooler line. The part itself cost under $30 and it's very very easy to replace.

if thats it, thats the oil cooler return line..mine went too (02 SE). cheap part ($30 ish) and barely a half hr to replace so you're aware. The new ones I'm told are more durable...time will tell.

I have also replaced the oil cooler line as it had a small leak, did mine around 180,000km mark if your in an area where salt is used during the winter yours is also most likely showing the signs of needing replacement

OP's profile says he's from NJ. Car tastes salt really good over there.

Sounds like the dealer is referring to that pipe posted in the pic earlier. That actually carries coolant. I believe it's an oil cooler line. I had a 03 for 7yrs and replaced it at about 6years into owning the car. It was showing sings of corrosion well before that. If you don't replace it and it starts leaking it will drain your radiator coolant and if it happens while you are driving like it did in my case your engine will overheat and the car will eventually die or stall out. Make no joke about it because this happened to me driving home late one night about 15mins from home with another 8miles or so to go. I was cold and windy about 10 deg F. I knew exactly what was happening and I wish I had changed that pipe sooner as I was fearing the worst. First my SES light came on as the temp rapidly rose (later turned out to be an engine over temperature code), the car was sluggish and I drove at a much slower speed than normal on the side of caution. The car died about 1 mile from home, but after waiting about 5 minutes I was able to restart it and get it in the driveway. Next day I went to the dealership and bought the part. Parts guy said these were pretty common. Replaced the pipe filled up with fresh coolant and I was good as new. SES light went away after about 10 miles of driving or so. I would replace it sooner rather than later if it's already badly corroded.

At passenger side front wheel right below crank pulley, right besides oil filter and engine oil pan.
