coil packs

Ok guys, I was changing the spark plugs in my 04 maxima se and I went to take off one of the coil packs and it actually came apart!!! The top electrical part with the clip seperated from the rubber boot and the spring was lefft in the boot which was still on the spark plug. I freaked out thinking that I ruined one of the coil packs so i decided to put it back together to see if it would run properly. As far as i can tell it doesnt seem to be misfiring. Would it throw a code if it was? Are these coilpacks made to come apart like that? Would any harm come if I just umplug that coil pack from the clip to see if that cylinder is firing?

I would leave it until you can get a new coil pack to replace it with. they are not supposed to come apart. should work fine if idle is smooth and pack is tightened down.
