6000k or 8000k HID replacement bulbs on 08 Maxima ?
Hi Everybody
Its been awhile since i been on, but quick question i'd like to ask and get your opinion on.
So im going to replace the HID bulbs on my 08 Maxima. Just wondering if i should go with a 6000 (6k) or 8000 (8k) bulbs ?
The bulbs i have are stock, and are white, but it has like a blue/purple cutoff line when its being shined on something such as a garage door for example.
Also does anybody know if 6k or 8k bulbs are illegal even tho the car is already with with HID bulbs ?
thx for any help.

That blue/purple cutoff is from the projectors themselves.
Keep the bulb temperature down in the 4300-5000K ball park. Anything above that in projectors (or in general) just looks plain stupid and output will suffer.

im replacing them because the right light went out all of a sudden. I turn the lights on and off and put the high beams on, and the right light came back on. I also saw it flickering a couple times while i was driving.
I think i will go with the 8k.
Thx for the help !

I just replaced mine with the 6000K Philips Ultinon bulbs. My stock drivers side burned out (dreaded pink eye, then death) On the bulb, it says "For Off Road Use Only" so I don't know what that means.
The 6000k doesn't look THAT different from the stock 4300K but I have noticed that light output sucks. I would just stick with the 4300K. When these bulbs burn out again, I will be going back to the stock Sylvania 4300K bulbs.

I ran 6000K in my last car I was very happy with them. When they would first turn on they were a slight blue when I turned them on but went away. You could barely tell after 2 min there was any blue. Though I just ordered 4500k for my 08 max cause I had halogens!

6K from XenonDepot are in my fogs and my brothers, my buddy has them as his headlights, excellent lights, although we have the plug and play volt kit, I would assume the actual lights are the same.
They are a bit brighter when 1st installed but once they burn in they they seem to be more concentrated light, and the color looks identical to MB/BMW factory HIDs and they don't fatigue your eyes

I have 12000 in mines the light output is great they light everything up around me for at least 200 feet. When they first come on they shine kinda purple then change to a bright blue color. I blind the crap outta people! I got them off ebay for 15 bucks. I think one off my oem ballast is going bad tho.

I've had my 8k in for well over 6 months, and they haven't burned out. With that said, I would go with 6k. I'm going to switch out my 8k's for 6k's. If you live in the city, with plenty of street lights, you will be ok with 8k but go anywhere where street lights are more scarce, then you will notice the lack of light.

Your light output will start to decline significantly after 6K at an exponential level. 6K is a bright white, after that you start getting blueish and eventually purplish. I'd go anywhere from 4300 to 6000.

MAX LIGHT = 4300K, STOCK OEM, white slight yellow tint
LESS LIGHT = 6000K, white, slight blue
LESS LESS LIGHT = 8000K, blue.
Are you going to ask the same question over and over again dude? this is getting ridiculous.
