CoryXavier Bop Gas Mileage Increase

Cory, thanks for my BOP. Checked my mail box on saturday and it was there.
Paid on 7th, received on the 10th. Well, I don't know if it was delivered before 10th or not. But fast shipping, in my opinion.
Well, I have not installed my own BOP yet. When I do, trust me, I will do a true and serious study to post a review of my own. I will report back here whenever I do my own review of the BOP.

At last, I get my own BOP and get it installed by 2-slow-5o.
THANKS A LOT, Man. You are truly a nice guy and very selfless. From my experience with him so far, I recommend him to any guy. Great guy!!! Thanks a lot again.
Well, there goes my pic of install and first drive with BOP installed. First 2 pics, I was doing speed limit of 45mph and saw 36.8mpg and then it suddenly dropped to 34.4mpg. I am telling, I drove only for about 6 miles and I saw these figures and I was amazed. My Maxima has never in its 91k miles-life so far shown me those figures. So, I am impressed by the BOP's claim of gas saving.
So, I got on the freeway. And I decided to drive with traffic and not be aggressive or go fast. So, I was doing 60mph to 65mph and even got to 70mph. I drove like this the rest of my 20 miles trip all the way home and I was shocked to see my car showing 30.5mpg and 30.9mpg all the way home.
In the history of me owning my car since brand new, the highest I have seen my car say has been 24.5mpg. So, I am truly imppressed to see it saying 30 plus mpg.
It seems the BOP will stand up to its name.
Well, when it comes to trying to go fast, hmmmmmmm, I will talk about that when I start going fast again. But for sure, I can say if I was a constant conservative driver, this is a way to go. Seems it would definitely give you more mpg, based on what I see. Throttle response is really nice. But around midrange(about 3500rpm to 4000rpm), I think stock might be a second or 2 faster. I have not felt any loss in the low end. But I just installed today. So, I still have a long way to go for a long road trip update.
I will update some time later about going fast and mpg. I will also try to update about driving the speed limits and what gains I see, like I just did today. Will keep you guys updated on MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOP. Stay tuned...
Thanks again Cory. And thanks again to 2-slow-5o for installing this for me.

Has anyone done an actual real gas mileage calculation? You know the old school way of fill up, take a trip, fill back up and then divide the trip miles by the gallons of gas and boom you have an mileage reading? This instant MPG stuff is garbage IMHO.
#88
#89
I know the instant MPG stuff can be unreliable as it fluctuates a lot, but my car has never shown me those figures. But I will try to give the kind of figure you asked. I am trying to do a review to see how long I will keep this on my car. Will let you know.

Day 2 with BOP. Not too pleased.
First thing I did this morning was stop at gas station and fill up. Then started my day.
Average mpg has been in the 19.X only. I might schedule an out of town trip just to see if I will see a milegae increase. Today, I did only lots of stop and go driving around town. Barely got on the freeway.
At this point, my stock would be showing in the 20.X or 21.X.
I am truly thinking BOP might be for conservative drivers. People who do not step on it often. Well, I will see.

Day 3. Just ok.
I see a definite loss in low end. Up top, I think it is same as stock. If you use premium and have a lead foot, up top is great with stock. And I think the same with the BOP. That is past 3800rpm.
Today, the top I saw was 27.2mpg and it did not last long since I was getting off the freeway.
So far, I am convinced that a conservative driver would see an increase in gas mileage. I don't think I can do that for I step on it way too often.
I must comment the BOP that if you are cruising at say 75mph or 80mph, the rpm stays below what stock would be at. So, I am very convincesd that if you are a conservative driver you would see an increase in mileage with the BOP.

well, installed the BOP awhile ago, the bolt on the bottom near the firewall was a b*tch to get out. but after some cursing and shoving my pudgey hands in there, i got the damn thing off and installed the BOP.
took it for a spin...no detectable loss of low end, decent gains on the butt dyno from 4500 rpm to redline. as for the gas milage...not sure yet. will report back after a few fill-ups.

According to MY OWN EXPERIENCE so far, the BOP is ok for a conservative driver. I feel the very slight loss in low end. I feel like it comes and then goes, lol. Throttle response is very slightly better than stock. I bought BOP based ONLY on claim of gas saving, not to go to 4500rpm to see how it performs. Hitting 4000rpm and above is consuming more gas, defeating my original purpose of getting the BOP. Since I drive fast most of the time, I will prefer stock. I think BOP would be best for a conservative driver.
Well, just when I have saved up money and about to buy the racingline front strut bar, they are suddenly out of stock. This really is not cool. I would hate to end up using this money. Does anybody know when they will have the racingline FSTB back in stock?
#98
Yes, its me. You miss me or something? I will invest my money in anything I learn about on the org and can afford. But if it is not satisfying to me, I think it is ok for me to go back to stock. Besides, most people that mod their cars might someday change back to stock for one reason or the other. So, it is ok for me to do that to my Maxima.

I have a 2005 that I bought 4 years ago and today, filled up in Middletown, De, drove to DCA airport here in Arlington, Va. The trip computer, which over the years I've found to be very accurate, showed for the highway miles to read 31 mpg. Once I got to DC the MPG dropped so that once I got to DCA it was reading 30.5.
This was my wifes car and she never got better than 24 mpg. She never uses the CC, has rapid starts and stops. I on the other hand do use the CC, try to never let the tach go above 3K and am slow on the starts and stops.

UPDATE: after haveing the BOP installed and replacing my cheap ebay CAI with an AEM CAI. I am getting a steady 3mpg better that is based off of miles driven/ gallons to fill up. I always top my tank off to the nearest $ so that could be skewing my #'s a bit. but over all driving 50/50 hwy/city I am pleased. I also have the Bully dog gas programer set to preformance and i be if I go to the regular setting i bet i'll get even better mpg gains.

I think my car has taken a few days to get used to the BOP. I must say performance is good, as I did go fast a lot recently. The throttle response is truly there.
Its truly hard for me to drive at the speed limit. I must say that using the miles driven /gallons to fill up has not been a good mileage measurement for me. So, I will go with my mpg display.
I must say in all years of owning this car before the BOP install, my car has never showed me those figures that I see and that you guys see in the pics above. So, I must say this BOP increase gas mileage, especially for a conservative driver who maintains rpm below 3000. I constantly get 28mpg cruising at about 70mph and I get about 29mpg to 30mpg when cruising at 60mph to 65mph.
With slow, gentle and steady acceleration, by the time you get to 3000rpm with the BOP installed, your car is at about 83mph. That is good enough speed for a normal driver.
So, I am a believer that the BOP does increase gas mileage.

Atlast, I decided to find reason to take a road trip to see how the BOP helps with gas mileage on a road trip. I plan to do 65mph to 75mph or maybe 80mph. But the only problem is, if some driver beats me trying to show off, then I will have to step on it! Can't let no one beat me when I am traveling. And if I go fast, my mileage would definitely drop because of doing 120mph!
Well, I plan on driving the speed limit for as long as I can. I hope throughout the trip. I am doing a 205miles one-way trip to San Antonio. Then returning next day, doing another 205miles again. So, I hope I will have a pretty good road trip update on my BOP.
So far, I must say it is good. But again, best for a conservative driver.
Will take pics and keep you guys updated on this. Leaving for my trip in a bit.

but when you write, you contradict yourself all over the place and add information that doesn't make sense and do illogical things like selling your aftermarket intake for stock because you thought it was hurting your economy (when aftermarket HAS BEEN PROVEN INFINITE TIMES that it does NOTHING but lower gas consumption).. i don't know what to say about that...
but if you want to do us ALL a favor and conduct an official real world test (yes you have to let those pathetic and laughable rice rockets pass you up...) take off the BOP (replace OEM stuff).. drive to a check point (gas station) fill up your tank until the pump stops (they are surprisingly accurate between stations) hit your trip reader, and cruiz control the 205 miles. end up at a gas station (check point two), fill up till the pump stops and record the gallons and dollar amount on the pump.
bring a few tools and put the BOP back on.. it only takes five min.
go back to the same gas station after your trip, and fill till the pump stops (like i said they are surprisingly accurate as the exhaust caps on the pumps use pressure measurements to gauge when to stop.) drive back to your checkpoint fill up again and record the gallons and price.
you will be the first person to officially test the BOP given you drive in the same traffic conditions and manner in each trip.

guess i'll report my personal findings...so i had about 5 or 6 fill-ups since i installed the BOP. my milage have definately increased.
i use to average 340 per tank before the BOP mod, now I'm avg 370 miles with no change in my driving habits. i pumped in 16 gallons during the past few fill-ups. sooooooooooo....this mod is a definate win in my book

So, I finally did my trip to San Antonio and back. Been busy and have not updated with pics. Well, when I started my trip, I promised myself to do speed limit till my destination. But that did not last throughout my trip. After going about halfway through my journey doing an average of 80mph, my car was reading about 24mpg. Not what I was hoping it would show. But who knows why? About that time, a 2010 G37 came and beat me doing about 95mph. Well, it is impossible for someone to pass me on a trip and I back down, so needless to say me and him drove next to each other for the rest of the trip doing an average of 110mph. I will beat him and he will come right back and beat me. And he beat me often because the BOP made my car take a little longer than stock to get me to 120mph.
Well, I think the BOP is for more of a conservative driver and would not help me much since I like to step on it often. Besides, it made me lose some power. My stock VIAS takes off faster and gets me to 120mph faster than with BOP.
I recently took my BOP off and it is free to anybody that would like to have it. If you are out of Houston, paypal me $5.00 and I will mail the BOP to you.
If you are local, let me know so we can meet and you have it for FREE.
