GABRIEL STRUTS

Just replaced the front struts on my 2004 maxima sl with Gabriel struts. Got them off amazon for 24.95 ea. Must say best struts I have put on a maxima. I replaced all rubber in the front. I have put tokicos on a 2001. kyb's previously on this max. monroes on a 1992. These by far the best ride. Now trying to source the rears they come in stock and dissapear.

Wow I am very happy to hear that since I'm in the process of changing my struts on my 2004 Maxima and was looking on at the Gabriel.

Sounds like a good deal. Are they good struts? Did you buy strut mounts too?

Can you provide a link to the person or the ad you bought from that sells the strust for $24.95 each?

How is long term use on these struts? I don't know them. Just wondering if they have reviews out there.

On their website they list

G56671
G56672

50$ each on amazon.

They also make complete package, but they dont have it on amazon.

142937 Mount 25$ each front including bearing.

Doesnt seem too expensive, and their website seems serious.
I dont know how they compare to monroe???

http://gabriel.com/our-products/car-light-truck-van/pv-search?yr=2004&make=Nissan&model=Maxima&engine=1

Seems like a serious company. Shocks quality really matter to me and expect shocks to work #1 and last a long time, so I dont know how they compare to KYB and Monroe. I was planning to go with Monroes next time actually. A bit more expensive, but good quality and lifetime warranty.

Any arguments or facts to back that claim or it's just BS from someone who doesnt know anything about shocks?

I was never able to use them on my 4th gens. I tried twice and both times the threaded section stripped out on the upper mounts before they ever made it on the car.

How were you able to strip threads twice before putting the strut back on the car?

I have not heard anything about Gabriel. I have KYB and love them, no issues and I do take my car to the track spring/summer time.

GABRIEL STRUTS

For what it's worth, I used Gabriel shocks on my old '91 Pathfinder a few years back and they were OK. Nothing good to say about them, but nothing too terrible.
I have KYB's on my '97 Max and I used AC Delco's on my '92 Max. I usually go with whatever Rock Auto has on special / closeout!

That's what I though. You have no clue what you are talking about and you are only judging him because the parts cost less. You assume they suck because they were cheaper. Unless you have some facts to back your claims, please do not write BS that goes nowhere. Thanks

Ok, Part #s are correct. I replaced every other part with nissan parts, strut mounts, spring seats, isolators, bump stops etc. AS for being cheap. they are doing a better jon than the fan boy KYB, tokicos etc. Had all those on my maximas. previously had Kybs on this car and hated them. What is crap for you is great for me.

i installed those on a members car and i didnt like the way the were seated on the bottom of strut landing. i viewed them as guard rail finders. hope you like them but i couldnt sleep right knowing i had a $50.00 supension.

personal note

i do have kybs with progress cause i jumped on the band wagon. i would do teins with monroes if i werent lazy to go back into my car supension again

Everything lined up for me. I didn't do Monroes because i put them on my 2001 maxima and for the difference in price. why not. And to be honest. I was a manager at Parts America(now advance auto) and a manager at Autozone. I seen more monroes come back defective at Parts America than i seen Gabriels come back at AutoZone. FFT. Worst struts i ever put on a car were Tokico blues on my 2001 maxima

Couldn't find that price at Amazon. Do you have a link? I too hate KYB.

I think the price went up, because the rear monroes used to be 24.95 with free super saver shipping, now they are over 30.00. what i did was just put the part# off of Gabriels site into the search and voila. also these were ordered over two months ago

Thank you rawmax1. I took your advise because I too thought my car road crappy with Tokicos. The oem factory KYB'S it had sucked too and bounced around bad. What a world of difference these Gabriels made to the ride. Never rode like this before. Very smooth but still handles corners fantastic. I always put on Gabriels back in the day on my older cars because they just lasted forever and were cheaper priced. I never tried the newer Ultras though.

These struts made our 2000 Infiniti I30 ride like a luxury car should ride. But just like you said it still corners very well too. It must be in the valving technology the Ultras use but our car just glides over bumps now at any speed unlike the Tokicos when the car jolted pretty hard when bigger bumps were hit especially in cold weather. I dont steer around bumps now because I could care less if I hit them. No longer running lower tire air pressure to compensate for ride comfort so my gas milage will be better too.
Now I'll tell you this though. I didnt try a sharp off ramp at 90mph to test them only at my normal speed at 70mph to test and they were great. No lean at all. The off ramps posted speed was 45mph so I figured 25mph faster proved my point and I was grinnin just fine.

Since they have lifetime warranty I'll never buy another set either. My friend who's worked at autozone for over ten yrs said he's only had about 5 Gabriels returned for warranty replacement. Usually pot hole related and one guy had damage to his wheel it was so big a pot hole but they still replaced under warranty. Warranty even covers wornout struts. Its all he will buy too, nothing else. My other cars I sold before ever replacing Gabriels again so I expect these to last but warranted if they dont so either ways cool with me.

I agree with the op' "these are the best struts I ever put on my Infiniti". Wish I installed them on my old Max. No longer looking for struts that ride/handle well. I found them again thanks to you reminding me what I use to run long ago. I just strayed from them after switching to japanese cars and due to reading the tokico/kyb hipe. Never again though. Very much appreciated. Thank you rawmax1 and Gabriel these are fantastic struts, my butt knows it too!

I was never able to use them on my 4th gens. I tried twice and both times the threaded section stripped out on the upper mounts before they ever made it on the car.

lol' stripped the threads Twice?
If you did manage to strip any strut thread during install it would be because you did'nt compress the spring enough and you were trying to tighten the nut against the springs tension. But twice? One would think you'd learned on the first screw up. It was'nt the struts fault its the idiot shade tree. Try to move under a different shade tree next time to see if things work better for you..Hey' if he can strip the same thread twice?

I did a Gabriel struts on a customer car because the Tokico blues were all blown and they were low on cash. The customer said that ride felt great and wouldn't buy the blues again. I have the car a test drive after the install as well and it did feel good, even on these NY rodes.
