Rearview mirror fell?

I came out to car today and with what must have been the blistering heat/humidity, my rearview mirror was dangling from it's wire...I attempted to place it back up to see where/how it attached and the area that connects with window isn't sticky at all anymore? It looks like a magnet, actually? Anyone experienced with how this is to be reattached? Thanks.
