Hazard lights won't shut off... battery drain
I've searched the forums multiple times and have yet to find this happening to anyone else.
My sister just got an 04 Maxima a few months back and she started having some electrical issues with it.
When she turns the car on, her hazard lights turn on, as well as the headlights... they will not turn off until the car itself is....Problem is, when she tries to restart the car the battery is dead. She has to be boosted off everyday.
It has just over 100,000 miles, and a local mechanic shop told her it was a part under the dash behind the cd player (BCM, I body control module), and the total cost for repair, including the part is $700.
I know a tech at the local Nissan dealer and called him to describe the issues, he essentially told me the exact same thing without me telling him what the previous mechanic said. I also spoke with a guy who was a tech at the Nissan plant in Smyrna and he thought she could just unplug the flasher relay, and that should solve the problem, though how does that effect the battery once the car is turned off?
If the BCM isn't the culprit, does ANYBODY have an idea what could be causing this issue? I am trying to help her find a resolution that won't cost $700, especially if that isn't the problem. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it is the BCM , it probally has a short on it ,and its hanging up the electric side which is draining the battery.
taking the flasher relay off only helps out until you find a spare BCM, I suggest you try looking in the For Sale 6th gen , few part outs and junkyards ( car-parts.com )
You may find them cheaper and its easy to replace.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I get a nice discount through my local dealership so I will compare the cost of a brand new unit, to the old when my discount is factored in.
I won't be able to get to it, myself, but if I can get the part cheaper, the labor won't be as tough to deal with. Thanks again.

Thank you for the pic... that is precisely where I told my sister it was located once I searched a little further! ![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Also, I found the BCM through LKQ for around $110 through a Wholesale account
They told me labor would be about 30 minutes, so I just saved my sister over $500! Wow.
