SES light = $2880.00

Well, i popped a service engine soon light in my 07'. Went to Advanced auto to have them pull the trouble code. The code was p0021? im pretty sure that was it, but it had something to do with the crank shaft positioning sensor.

So, took it to the stealership to have that code looked at and because i was due for my 85000 mile service (i have to do thin because of the warranty, i was just in last may for my 75000 mile service and oil change), knowing that i had the "warranty forever". they came back saying that i needed my timing belt replaced, but that the warranty company has denied my claim. Boooo!!!

I call the company and explain my situation. They said they have voided the warranty because the last time i changed my oil in my car was in may. Well its not, i just didn't take it to nissan, b/c i did it myself. I regularly change oil every 4-5 thousand miles. Well turns out the max limit on an oil change on a maxima is 7500 miles or 6 months. i have 84400 mile right now so im over by400 miles, But still within the 6 months. So after talking to these ******, the warranty fucts, i finnally got them to cover the problem. Whether or not it is the timing chain, i don't much care now that the warranty is still in effect.

Moral of the story, Don't change your oil yourself if you have a "warranty Forever". TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. At least they wash it too!!

Sorry bout the long post.

So confused, did the warranty cover it or not? If it did then it really didn't cost you anything, so why the thread title?

Dealerships talk to you like everything is set in stone. This is anything but the truth. Get mean, get irritated at them, and speak your mind. threaten them with legal recourse and you will find they are much more willing to play fair.

He was over the mileage specified in the warranty.
What arguement would you bring to the table? Tears?

he was not over the mileage because he did his own oil change.

he was over the mileage since the last service record.

hence why he won.

had he not done his own oil change and gone over the mileage then yea your right, it would be on him.

Well, there at a few things. First, yes the stealership did say the chain needs replaced. I think its just the cam positioning sensor. If I didn't have the warranty, then I would of taken it to a private shop, not Nissan. Dealers like to pad the bill for more money. They may have to access the timinh chain to change the sensor, so they figure if were there Chang the chain too. plus all the bill is all labor, only 600 in parts. thus, income for the stealership.

Second, I don't know why it needs replaced, but hopefully it will happen. (still waiting for the ok from waranty fucts).

third, the dealer did everything they could to help.
lastley,I wade over the alloted 7500 miles acording totheir records but there is a 1000 mile grace period, hence why I still have thwarranty
