2006 Maxima long life tips.

What advice do you guys have on maintenance, so I can keep this Maxima running past 200,000 miles, I have 71,200 on it, I use synethic oil. Our 93 Maxima ran for 18 years without ever needing repair or a maintnance shop I wanna do the same for my 06.

I don't own a Maxima but I do have an Altima.. I will say that cars arent built like they used to be. I have a 93 Camry with 294k which recently started giving me issues this year i.e distributor, catalytic converter, and nearly everything suspension related :x. After owing the car 12 yrs/208k miles pretty much nothing else has gone wrong. My Nissan, diff story.. I'd have to say keep up on your maintenance and oil changes and pray! Haha

For everyone it is different for me personally I've had a number of items to replace on my max to extend it life
Within the last year I had to replace or repair:
Transmission
Spark plugs
A/c hose
Both frt lower control arms
All motor mounts and trans mount
Battery
Timing belt
Drive belts

My car is a 06 and it has 105k miles on it and I purchased it new
I used nothing but synthetic motor oil and recently synthetic trans oil

With all the items I replaced above I hope to get another 100k miles out of it

Just do the maintenance as required by manufacturer and you will be fine for many years to come. Don't drive it like you stole it is the number one in my book.

RAZ76 I wont drive it like a crackhead trying to get away from the police and the only dispute I have with the maintenance in the book is transmission flushes that seems to be whats putting 6th generation drivers on the side of the road around here

I look at that as an opportunity to go manual. *** that automatic crap. A maxima is more fun manual anyway.

I use Amsoil ATF. It shifts very well. When I had my tranny rebuilt, and valve body replaced, the Trans shop recommended this fluid. My trans was rebuilt last summer.
This summer I had the trans fluid flushed.

Actually I don't drive recklessly, but I do put a lot a miles each year on my car. I just expect it to be dependable. And for the most part it has been dependable for the first 4 yrs. Just recently I had to replace a number of items above, and I follow the owners manual very carefully.

Maintenance

Hey guys I have a 2004 Maxima SE and just hit 100,000 miles on it today. These are just my opinion but as far as maintenance goes with this car these are the top 3 things that helped me out the most

This one I consider the most important with these problematic transmissions. Do 3 drain and fills with matic K transmission fluid every 15,000 miles, I know that may seem like a lot but with the problems that are coming up with these transmissions it is worth the extra maintenance. I am a little heavy on the gas pedal and my miles are mostly city and I have been doing this since 30k and my transmission has been trouble free so far.

I had the shimmy problem for the first 70,000 miles and tried everything and nothing worked until I put 4 new Michelin - Primacy MXV4 tires on it and the last 30,000 miles have been as smooth as glass. The problem was those Goodyear RSAs the whole time. The Primacy’s are the best tires I have ever owned on any car.

Change oil every 6,000 miles with Castrol Edge Synthetic. Saves me a lot of time and trouble by doing oil changes with Synthetic at 6,000 instead of regular oil at 3,000.

Hope this helps

My tip is to keep performance mods at a minimal or none at all. They decrease the life of the engine. For example, CAI, RAM, headers, etc.

Also, normal maintenance is required to make your car last as long as possible.

You should be good then man. Not really into performance mods myself except suspension. FSTB is a must in my book.

Thanks again man for those tips, how about those big 22 inch rims what impact do they have in the long run, you know what the car actually rides and handles better since i've got them.

That is not correct. Those mods help the engine breath better. It's the drivers that re hard on their cars and race everything that moves that will reduce the life of their engine.
