How to Replace 2004 Maxima Stock Spoiler Lip?
Hey Guys, its been a while since I have been on here. I have a question, I have a 2004 maxima SL that has the stock spoiler lip. The spoiler is peeling like crazy and needs to be replaced or repainted. I see that I can get replacement spoiler lips pretty cheap and they come painted to match the stock paint but I do not see any instructions on how to remove the stock spoiler lip and replace. On top of that, my trunk lid is dynamated so I cannot easily see any nuts that may be holding the spoiler on. If I can confirm that there ARE indeed nuts holding this thing on and figure out the correct area on the trunk lid where they are, I can remove the dynamat in these areas to access the nuts. So does anyone know how to remove this thing? I am sorry if this has been discussed many times before but I have searched the forum and cannot seem to find any help on this.
It's a pain to do. There are 3 nuts, one at the ends and one in the middle and on top of that it's held by double sided tape that is a ***** to remove. This is what my trunk looked liek after I removed mine.
Thanks for the pic and reply, so those nuts are easily accessible from inside the trunk lid? Do you happen to have any pics of the bottom side of the trunk lid that show where those nuts are? I cant see mine because they are covered in dynamat but I will remove it from the areas of the nuts if I can pinpoint where they are. So the only difficult part was removing all of the double sided tape?

Where did you get the replacement spoiler? I wanted to add one to our 04 SL and the guy at Nissan Parts said if I got one with the tail light I had to disconnet the one in the rear window. Wonder what you got to install?
most of them ar eon ebay for 140 painted.....you dont HAVE too disconnect the 3rd brake light you can just mod your wiring a lil.
I to did the upgrade from the 04 to the 07 spoiler and it was alot of work. The spoiler was about $159 colour matched and an additional $200 to fill and repaint the wholes. So unless you're willing to pay $300-400 for the upgrade leave the stock one on because it's time consuming and costly.Wish I knew that before I decided to do the upgrade
Not trying to hijack ur thread but just bought and 04 SE yesterday but it doesn't have the rear spoiler and was wondering what's gonna be the easiest way to install one since I don't have the holes.
You are in luck...just get an 07 spoiler and follow instructions that will come ith spoiler!!
