QUESTION TO THOSE MEMBERS HERE THAT ARE LOWERED

The last time that I changed my Eibach Pro Kit 1 lowering springs was in April of 2009. At that time I had gone on a trip to Boston from Montreal and when I returned I noticed that the car was making a fair bit of noise. So when I looked underneath I noticed that the drivers side front spring was cracked. Thankfully it was high enough that it did not pierce my tire or damage anything including my KYB shock. Some of you here may remember my post as I included pictures of before and after. Now less than three years later, the car started making noises whenever I turn the steering wheel....like a loud clicking noise. I changed the bearing plates and all the plastic and rubber mounts only to find out from the mechanic that it is actually the Eibach springs that are "WORN" out! They have almost no compression left in them and that is why there is a noise. So my question is, how many of my fellow 6th GEN owners that are lowered have seen this and other types of problems related to lowering springs? (not just Eibach)?

According the mechanic I would need to replace the springs. Now I also understand that Eibachs are supposed to have a lifetime warranty...what ever that means....(fine print)...I will have to ask my buddy who supplies my aftermarket parts and probably check with Eibach too.

That shouldnt happen. Im sure they will cover the springs. This is obviously a fluke.

+1. Springs don't 'wear out'

Are you sure the clicking isn't your axle?

I have a 71 Chevelle and I can assure you...springs can become weaker over time. the time frames discussed here are pretty short though. there shouldn't be a problem in 3 years. even at 40 years most of the play in my suspension is from other soft items.

No it is not the axle...you definitly here the sping when you turn the wheel....But I did talk to Eibach and their customer service is no 1. Here's what I found out: The springs will soften a bit with time and because they are progressive springs the top coils are closer together. The top coils can rub at bit when you turn the wheel so they recommend replacing installing a pair of rubber tubings over the top coils. Eibach developed new tubing which they said they will send to me free of charge. My garage was very understanding since I paid to replace the top bearings they said they would take the suspension off and put the tubing on free of charge once the tubing arrives in the mail. Eibach said that if that doesn't solve it they would be surprised...and they stand behind their warranty; If I'm not satisfied they will send me a new set of front springs. I have a feeling though that this will solve everything because I've read this on some forums already...so I will keep everyone posted. So far so good.
