Australian J31 Maxima - Power steering high pressure hose dramas!

Hi Guys, I'm from australia and have a 2004 Nissan Maxima which has the same Vq35de engine as you guys and hopefully you can help me.

I've got a issue on my hands that has spiralled out of control. In a nutshell:

1) found out power steering high pressure hose was leaking power steering fluid so it needed to get replaced.
2) After doing a search on here and being quoted around $700 from nissan I decided to call the local hosemasters mobile guy to come out and remove the hose and replace the hose section with a new piece of hose. He quoted around $300-400.
3) He removed the hose and I mentioned to him to make sure he put the restrictors back in place in the new hose. He said "yea thats ok, it's these long metal bits" Which i'm not 100% sure if they are.
4) he spent the next 3 hours trying to fit the hose back in but couldn't get the banjo bolt side in. Gave up and told me to take it to another mechanic!
5) I put it into another mechanic and they had a look on the hoist and said that after trying the thread was cross-threaded so they had to get a thread specialist to repair the thread. (Not sure who's fault this was) They've had the car for a few days now and finally put it back together saying it was a pain in the a$$!
6) Now they've put it back together and flushed the fluid and turned the wheel full lock several times they reckon that my car's power steering doesnt function correctly. It is still very hard to turn at low speeds but seems to work fine and higher speeds. THEY ARE STUCK and don't know what else to do.

GUYS CAN YOU HELP ME AT ALL? What would cause the issue for power steering to not work properly? Hopefully I can get an answer asap as I wanna tell them to go ahead and do whatever or take it somewhere else costing even more $$$

My advice is, If they didn't fix the problem they don't get paid. Take it to Nissan and you won't have a problem. The only thing you should have paid for is the part. Their fails attempts don't deserve money in labor

I see Michaels post was a couple of months ago and I'm wondering how Michael got out of the situation, as my wifes J31 Maxima has a PS fluid weep from the same high pressure side hose.

I have heard that local hydraulic repair shops may be able to repair the Nissan hose. Has anyone done that successfully.

On Mikes issue, sounds to me like metal flakes from the stripped thread in the banjo fitting may have fouled up a valve or munched the pump.

a simple $150 part is now escalated to a huge problem that sucked a lot of money and time and at the end its still not fixed
here is where your problem started:

"found out power steering high pressure hose was leaking power steering fluid so it needed to get replaced." --> so far so good, you found the problem and the solution...

"After doing a search on here and being quoted around $700 from nissan I decided to call the local hosemasters mobile guy to come out and remove the hose and replace the hose section with a new piece of hose. He quoted around $300-400." --> this is where i am getting confused? did they cut the old hose and replaced the bad section of the hose? or they installed a brand new out the box complete hose?
