2004 Maxima takes a few tries to start in morning

Hello, I have a 2004 Maxima with 146,000 miles. Sometimes it takes several tries for it to start in the morning. It cranks each time and eventually starts. The weather has been very moderate, not cold or hot. The car will start fine the rest of the day. Any suggestions?

How about if you don't start the car in the morning, will it start right up later in the day?

I start it at about 10 or 11 am

Well it's not even really the morning when I first start it. It's about 10 or 11 a.m.

Okay that's what I thought, anytime you leave the car off for an extended period of time. Is your car throwing any codes? First, I'd say check your battery. It might barely have enough juice to start the car and as you have the car running it charges the battery, but when you leave it off for a while it discharges at a quicker than normal rate if it's weak. If that's okay, then it could be numerous things having to do with air or fuel supply. That happened to me before when I was under warranty, and there were several problems. I ended up having a bad fuel pump, bad pre-cats, and an EGR valve stuck open.

Mine was used to be slow to start in the morning and then fine the rest of the day...it turned out to be my battery. Get it tested at autozone. They may tell you that you're alternator is bad but I think the maxima's alternator shows a low voltage.
