CamShaft Sensor Maxima '08 6th Gen
CamShaft Sensor Maxima '08 6th Gen
Hello! My '08 Max SL has been stalling at random periods, hard starting and jerky downshifting while driving. I pulled the code and it appears the problem is the Cam Shaft Sensor Bank 1. I keep hearing that this is an easy fix and don't go to the dealer and get charged hundreds of dollars. The problem is I can't seem to find a good chart of the engine to see where this is located. I understand there are multiple CamShaft locations as well as the CrankShaft Sensor so I want to make sure I'm fixing the correct piece. From what I have learned, the Bank 1 sensor is on the rear cam, right side of engine. Is this correct and is it a straight or angled sensor? There are two options to purchase. Any good suggestions or diagrams that could help? Thanks much.
I've been told there is 3 sensors total. I experienced the hard start for a while as mine were leaking. I was told by the dealer to replace the sensors but told by a master mechanic to replace the seals around the sensors. As I did have the seals replaced I got the hard start for a while after but now it doesn't do it anymore. I would say if your experiencing the stalls go ahead and have the sensors replaced.
The bank 1 is the rear one and on my 05' 6th gen it has green connectors so easy to pick out. It is also the straight plug, the front one is the angled sensor. I just replaced both of mine after random stuck in 5th gear and hard starts and also pulled the code for the bank 1 as well
