My transmission control valve is failing and the Nissan dealer wants 1,600 to replace it. Is this supposed be covered under the extended warranty on the CSV transmission?

I have a case# opened with Nissan, but the rep I spoke with said the warranty is tiered and Iam beyond the 8yr/80,000 mile tier with my mileage being 85,000 . The letter that they sent about the extened warranty says nothing about the warranty beig tiered and clearly states that coverage is to 10yrs/120,00 miles.

My 2006 maxima is starting to show similar symptoms at 65K mileage. Looking for a good mechanic / dealership to address this issue in NY-NJ area. I am hoping a valve-body fix would solve the problem and doesn't need a complete transmission replacement. I don't have any warranty coverage at the moment.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat as you but I contacted the Nissan Headquarters and they open a case for me. The are reviewing the number of maximas that are having constant transmission problem so they can asses a recall. They will let me know on Monday ...I will keep you up to date.
