Rattle at 2500 rpm
Just purchased the car has a small engine rattle at approx 2500 rpm comes and goes .Could this be the timming chain tensioner ? or guide .Car has 200,000 km on it .It does sound similiar to my doge v6 before I changed the tensioner on it

Congrats on the purchase. Is it possible for you to pinpoint where the rattle is coming from? Is it more so like a buzzing noise, louder when you drive next to a wall? If so, it may actually be your exhaust heat shields. I forgot to mention that in the 'what to look for' post. These heat shields tend to rust away and become loose, causing a rattle under acceleration. I had the same thing happening around 2500 RPM. I went under the car and found the shields in the front were loose and barely hanging on. I ripped them off and the noise went away immediately.

It would be a little odd for it to be the timing chain in my opinion. I may be wrong. I had the timing chain issue also on my 08, but the rattle came up immediately when I started the car. I didn't have to wait for a certain rev point to hear that sound, it would then go away after a few minutes when the issue first appeared. I say more than likely it isnt (hopefully). I would lean towardswhat CRiME stated to you... the heat shield. Had mines replaced and vibration that I used to receive when accelerating (normal to light foot) decreased a good amount. Not totally though.

go underneath and check your exhaust heat shields, ive worked on many vehicles with the same problem. as Crime said, they rust off and make the rattle. rip off any loose ones and the noise should go away
