Fog lights and night driving

From what I've read in the service manual, the fog lights are in the headlight assembly.

The lights in the bumper are called cornering lights. The fog lights take an h3 bulb and require removing the bumper cover. The cornering lights can be done by moving the bottom engine cover.

Both my fog lights and my cornering lights seem to be blown. I drove the car in the rain on an un lit parkway last night and it was one of the scariest moments I've had (And I've done a lot of dumb things ).

I also only have halogen. I am hoping that replacing the fogs and the cornering lights will improve my night vision.

Can anyone comment on expected vision with just teh headlights and no fogs? My headlights are slightly hazy as well. I was going to see if I can buff them out this weekend

So this past weekend, I changed my struts. While the car was on the lift. I took off the bumper and changed out all the bulbs and now i see your posts today. No huge improvement is correct. I even buffed the lenses to see if it made a difference. So on to the next plan. Oem head lights. Am I correct that if I take the entire OEM HID headlight off a donor car with the pigtails that it will plug into the factory harness? Nothing additional needed correct? I have been searching the forum and it took me a while to find the correct key words to use for the search and read through the threads.

By the way, someone should note in a DIY for headlights that the plastic cover that secures the 9012 bulb is crappy and a new ones should be purchased if you plan to change the bulbs. When I took off the covers, both sides were broken. I had to use tape to hold it to the housing.

The age of your main halogen bulbs might play a factor as well. But yes, the OEM halogen and HID headlight assemblies are 100% swappable as long as the headlight harnesses are included. The headlight harnesses are a bit different between the halogen and HID, but the pins in the plugs are the same.

One last question. Do you have any pics of the headlight harness?

even oem hid headlights are not that bright.
Fogs are useless, I don't use mine. Even with 50W hid fogs, it's still useless. all I did is burn my lens and housing, forget it.
Cornering lights are even more useless than fogs.
