2007 Maxima that will not start when car is hot. I am experiencing difficulty in starting the car once it has been driven and the engine is up to temperature. When cold, the car starts fine. Drive it for a few minutes and shut the engine off, you will wait upwards to 1 hour before it will start again. Mechanic said a chip in transmission and will cost 2k to fix or get rebuilt trans for $1400.00.

Any ideas before spend that type of $$$?

Any codes? Could be anything from your camshaft position sensors to your engine coolant temp sensor. There haven't been too many reports around here of CVT failure. Most of the transmission problems are from 04-06

Crime I think it's the crank sensor. Have that checked. How many miles on the car? My 07 had 104k when I had the tranny replaced under warranty for free. Plus got a free loaner car.

Yep, that is possible as well. A few months after I made that post, my car began to stall out and gave trouble to restart when warm. I changed both CAM sensors with OEM nissan parts, yet I continued to have the problem. I changed the crank sensor (was so frustrated at that point that I actually used an AutoZone part for $20) and that seemed to fix it. Crank sensor was a very easy fix. Only took about 5 minutes to replace.
