issues with my 05 Maxi

Hi all, I'm a new member and this is my 1st post. First off I would like to give a big shout out to the members here, you have silently come to my aid a few times in the past. Now I have an issue with my 05 that I cannot seem to find an answer for anywhere.. A few days ago I got into my car, started up no problem, put it into reverse and it made a big thunk (whole car jolted) I backed out of my driveway, put it into drive, again "thunk".. car had no power, I matted it and barely got to local speed limit.. brought it home right away, checked tranny fluid, was a bit low, topped it up and car was fine for about 20 miles then lost power again, limped home, checked fluid again, it was fine.. tried to start car, it would crank but not turn over. it now starts but only after 10 sec. of cranking.. it still hits reverse with a jolting thunk and sometimes drive too.. I've read MANY complaints about their tranny issues but mine isn"t quite the same, shifts fine up and down through the gears, it's just when I put it into R or D, and no power, and hard starting.. Any help or input is very much appreciated.

Tom

Is the SES light on? Scan for stored codes.

Thx for the reply, yes all the lights are lit up as I've got an abs issue so cant say if it's lit due to this prob. Having codes pulled later today. Will let you know what comes up. This all happened at the same time (hard shift into gear, hard start, and no power)

Probably need to change the camshaft position sensors. Very common issue along with the valve body. As Costee has advised, your trouble codes will shed some more light on the problem.

Yes, proceed with the cps. P0340 refers to bank 1 (P0345 is bank 2), but I'd suggest you change the two sensors. The ESM titles P0726 as "ENGINE SPEED INPUT CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE." And for solution recommends to "recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector."
The issues might turn out to be minor after all. Good luck.

OK fellas, thank all of you very much for all your input and good advice. Went to the dealership today, bought 2 new camshaft and 1 new crankshaft position sensors. $283.00 here in the great white north. installed new camshaft sensors with no difficulty but had problems finding the crankshaft sensor. While on my creeper journey under the car I noticed that my negative battery lead was completely severed from the connection at the transmission housing, after doing my version of a happy dance I replaced the negative lead with brand new copper, put everything back togather and she runs like a charm.. NO MORE ISSUES !! decided to clean the throttle body and MAF sensor while I was in that neighborhood anyways.. runs great !! once again.. THANKS !!!

Nice. Thanks for the feedback. The ESM was dead on target on the codes.
