been shopping around for a Maxima, and came across this listing. it comes e- and safety tested. question is, how reliable is it with mileage that high? i'm very tempted to get it.

125k is nothing for the motor...I'd look into the tranny as well as the precats...but don't let that mileage scare you, the VQ is a beast.

that's a bit of a relief haha...i also found a 2004 3.5 SE with 98K miles. would that be a better option? fully loaded as well

If it were me, I'd get a 02 or 03, honestly. Preferably the TE 5.5 gen 6 spd

But remember, you're talking to a guy who bought his 99SE with 141K on the clock here, so I may not be the best person for 6th gen buying advice

I purchased my 04 Maxima SE fully loaded with all the SL upgrades with 124000 miles for 8500 from a nissan dealer who did a whole inspection and 150 point check. Car was sold as a certified plus from their dealer came with a 1000 mi warranty and all those things made me confident in purchasing the car. Couple thousand later and no problems, I LOVE my girl!!

I'd search around. I bought my 02' SE 6spd with 59k on the clock. It is loaded to the gills and you wouldn't believe me if I told you what I paid for it. So that being said, I'd be patient to find the right one with the best scenario as possible. Not just miles, but who owned it and what shape it's in elsewhere. Just my .02.

if you don't know what transmission is in it, then you probably need to do more research. Ask as many technical questions as possible, and post them here if unsure. The 5sp is a pain, but with the right knowledge can be remedied for under $1k. I know it's a lot of money, however if you want it and can afford it, you do what you have to do. The safe bet is to find an SL with 4sp or a manual if you don't want the headache of fixing the 5sp. There are other issues spread across the forum so take a look around. Cats, trans, timing chain, CSP sensors, ABS sensors, etc. No car is built perfect, and not all have the same issues.

Hard to make any assesment with so little detail. $6000 isn't a bad price for those miles, but what options are there, and are there any issues with the car? Going to have look it over and research the value with those options too assess if it's worth it. But if that's the price they advertised, means they will come down a few hundred if you're a serious buyer.
