When my Maxima grows up...

I want it to be just like my boss's car. I just bought my Maxima this week. I am putting together a plan to get to 400hp. Any suggestions are appreciated. Just in the research phase now.
He is at just under 1000 and has proven a top speed of 186 and a 0-60 of 2.6 seconds.

400hp, go buy an old 350Z and work with that. Trying to get 400hp out of your Max will just cost too much $$$ and mostly likely wreck it as well.

OK, so maybe 400 is hoping for alot... I was looking at intake, headers, exhaust, power programmer and I would even consider going back to my childhood and using a nitrous kit.
I am a previous Porsche guy who has spent time behind the wheel of open-wheel cars...I crave power, but was limited this time around to a "family car".

Dude you bought the wrong car to mod for power

Sell that car and go buy a Infiniti G series, Hyundai Genesis, etc

OR get two cars..

Thanks for the info guys... Im stuck with this Maxima and will do some research and see exactly what I can spend the money I saved by buying this car on... I figure a 2005 with 60k miles on it for $4500 allows me to spend a little money on it.

Yes really. The initial torque of the VQ just eats it up off the start and by the end of the 1/8 mile its an obvious winner

Put a cat back exhaust and a cleaner intake on it and call it a day. They sound wonderful this way, and so what if they can't compete with a GTR?

I was not SERIOUSLY trying to compete with anything... Especially my boss's GTR. I added a custom exhaust this weekend that removed the resonator and added two Magnaflow mufflers with all new pipe. I also added a Stillen intake. Sounds incredible. OH, and I Plasti-dipped my wheels.
