Engine shut off?
Engine shut off?
I was driving down I-81 this weekend and my car engine just shut off. all of the my dash lights turned on (vsc off, check engine light, etc.) and then the engine cut off. I was able to move to the shoulder. Upon shutting the car off I turned it back on to see if the problem had passed and it rev'd up to 4-5k and then back down to 2-4k then started bouncing between 1-2k for the remainder. It was a very fast rev too (not sure if that makes a difference). The oil is only 4k old and is mobil 1 extended mile (15k maximum but usually change around 7) but there was a heavy smell of oil coming from the car. The car would turn on fine but as soon as i put it in drive the engine would just cut off. Any ideas what it could be?
It was raining a little bit so my initial thought is that some water got into the intake and is causing a water log. The tow truck driver said it sounded like a computer issue. I was also told by a shop around 10k miles ago that the transmission was going bad and would need to be replaced and said drive it until it dies then decide if its worth getting a new one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It was towed into the harrisonburg nissan dealership near JMU. Does anyone have any connections to people down there that could give the car a second opinion after taking it to the dealership?

just got a call back from the dealership, it was a water separator for the intake that broke off an got lodged in the throttle body. They do not have any more Nismo CAI's nor are the allowed to sell engine components. How would i come across a water separator for the intake?
