Arming the stock Security system
Arming the stock Security system
Hi all...
I've posted this around and have yet to get an answer.... Perhaps those here are better versed? We'll see..
How do I ARM my security system.. I mean so that if someone just opens an unlocked door without using the FOB to disarm/unlock, the horn starts beeping?!?!
I'd appreciate it..

Anyway, for argument sake; if Im sitting IN my car, lock the doors after removing the key from the ignition, wait for the security LED to indicate "armed" (as opposed to pre-arming)... and then open the door with the inside handle, the alarm [horn] will sound?
I'm just getting in after a 14 hour stint, or I'd go out to the garage right now

Thanks in advance people

Yep, that's exactly what will happen.
Yep... That's what happened..
I've had a high end security system on the last three vehicles I've owned.. It's gonna take a little getting used to... that this car, which has options I've never even heard of (heated steering wheel) has such a bare bones security system that, eh... Only screams when a door opens?!?
But then again, for all intentioned purposes, that's the main trigger for any alarm.. Just thinking out loud...

I guess that's just standard practice for most OEM systems. Always wondered why some manufacturers left out something as small as a shock sensor. Cost? False alarm complaints? I don't know

Thank you very much...I can't believe the lack of responses to this

Yep, I agree. Stock security system didn't do me much good when they broke in and ripped out my kenwood navigation. They busted the lock, and I guess fooled the mechanism into thinking the key was in, opened the door and helped themselves. When I got to the car, the front windows were down and entire center console was gone. Guess it was my fault for installing the entertainment system before an aftermarket alarm with a shock sensor

ouch that sucks. some factory alarms do come with a shock sensor nowadays from what i've heard...and ive seen the older "factory but aftermarket" alarms...factory 97 honda remote for instance with an automate alarm or something along the lines of that with t-taps and a mess under the dash.

Yeah, when I had my '95, first 'mod' I did was add a 2-stage shock sensor to the stock security system. Was pretty easy IIRC. That + the air horn served me pretty well. Never bothered to try it when I had the 6th gen, was worried I would mess something up
yeah theres writeups here how to add a shock sensor to stock in a 4th gen. when i was in my honda days years ago i installed a dei alarm w 2 way remote, shock sensor, i had air horns and a glass break sensor. kinda crazy. now that im not a honda owner im not worried about my car getting stolen/broken into every 30 seconds. 2 way alarm/remote start is a-ok with the siren it came with for me.
