Hello All,
I 've been having issues with camshaft sensors etc.. as I have posted in the last several weeks. My transmission was the issue with all the fault codes. I was leaking fluid badly ,wouldn't shift right . I got 198400 miles out of the original trans. I got a used one from a salvage spot with 98000 miles on. I took it to my mechanic and I went to Nissan and purchased 6 quarts of k_ matic transmission fluid.
When I came to pick up my car he handed me the fluid I purchased and said he had fluid already. I get home and look at my invoice and it says synthetic transmission fluid 6 qts. I drove a couple of days and it appeared ok but now its shifting funny. I know its a used transmission but my question to you guys is, can I flush this fluid it out and have the K matic put in. Hopefully it will shift smoother. What do you guys think?

Don't do anything, take the car back to the shop ASAP. You paid for a job and your car is not running properly. There is a good chance the valve body in the used transmission is failing as well. It's such a common issue with these cars. If you flush out the fluid and he figures it out, they will try to avoid any warranty work on the transmission job. I battled this issue for a couple of years with my car.

 

Gotcha ! Do I tell him to replace the fluid with K Matic Fluid cause its not shifting clean in the earlier gears?

 

You can if you like, but I would have him check the valve body if you are experiencing those symptoms, and go from there. Would be a shame for them to put in your K-matic and then it turns out the valve body or something else is wrong in the used transmission.

 

Ok he told me to bring it in Thursday. I will let you know what happens. Thank you for your comments! And he owes me money for a replaced camshaft sensor bank 1 .I told him I installed one already but forgot to erase the code. He used obII and found P0340 and replaced. THe stealerships are the only guys trying to steal from us. LOl

Thank you all for your responses and help. Yes I took it back and he changed the fluid to Nissan Kmatic. The car has been running much better since the change. The used trans had 95000 miles on it when installed. My original one went bad at 199000 miles on it. It was the original trans too. Im hoping this used one can give me another couple of years.
