Just Detailed the Engine Bay!

Not a real exciting or interesting thread, but I'm pretty impressed/satisfied with the results.

I had nothing planned to do today, so I thought, why not detail the engine bay of the 2006 Maxima?!

I've owned the car for about two years now and I'm sure it hasn't been cleaned in the 8 years that it's been on the road.

Here's a before and after:

Dang, that is dirty. Turned out pretty good. What did you use to clean it?

It was indeed! Unfortunately, living on a gravel road, it's hard to keep any part of the car clean.

I used Purple Power to degrease the engine and then washed it all of with a garden hose. I also used a detail brush to get dirt out of the places that the water couldn't really get to. And then after letting it all dry I used Stoner Trim Shine to shine all of the plastic, hoses, etc.

Congratulations! It looks great.

If you reach a point where the black plastic just won't look like new, I found a product a few years back from Bondo named restore black that works on plastic or composite that is exposed to the elements.

The last slide in the following slideshow shows how it looks after 4 months.

That engine was so dirty, that any kind of wipe down would produce astonishing results LOL.

Just kidding dude, nice job and looks nice and proper now. I hate a dirty engine, one of the first things I always do when get used car.

But seriously, it really would've lol. Now that it's clean, I plan on doing routine cleaning on it to keep it as clean as possible haha.

That looks exactly like my fathers 07 which I am in the middle of restoring if you will. I don't think he ever washed under the hood or around the trunk. The interior may have been vacummed a handful of times since he bought it new. I've put 20+ hours into cleaning it inside and out, no joke, and I'm still not done.
