I have an '04 or '05 maxima. I can never remember which.
My problem is coming from the front driver side. It was a problem that showed itself while I was primarily turning left. (Although it has now shown up on the passenger side as well). The sound is not the typical CV Axle click (although I am not ruling it out as a possible problem). But the axle itself is not showing any of the usual "wear" signs (worn out boots, leaks...etc). The sound it makes is hard to describe (and oddly doesnt happen every time I turn). But when it does happen...while turning left it sounds like metal banging together and bumps very hard. While turning right makes a different noise - more like brakes scraping. Before it is asked..I recently changed pads and rotors.
I mentioned the sound doesnt happen every time I turn...but I can also manipulate it to happen and not happen...depending on how hard I take a turn. If I want the sound to happen, I simply jerk the wheel in either direction. If I want to try and avoid it...I take a turn more slowly and deliberate.
My personal thought that this is either a bearing going bad (although it does not make the typical bearing grind while driving) or it is the CV axle. I cant think of anything else it could be...which is why I'm reaching out for help.

Check tie rods...end links..sway bar....the knuckle where the boot pivots maybe worn...jack up car and check for unusal play in the wheel...

tug on the swaybar where it meets the endlink, if theres play or a clunk theyre bad

Thanks guys. It was a bad bearing that seized and the spindle was rotating within it instead of the bearing rotating around it.
Replaced bearing and spindle.
